my life struggle won't go away!!!

Hey guys...I don't know who will read this or what they'll say, but I've got so much on my heart its overflowing at the mouth Ever since I was a kid, I have been a performer, usually musical theatre. Most recently I had gotten the confirmation from God that He wants me to use my gift for Him (mostly my music, thats where He's blessed me the most.) But lately the passion for acting has come back up, and it won't go away. For some reason I just feel empty, knowing that my old friends are havin a blast without me on the stage and screen performing. What I'm wondering if if it would be wrong of me to pursue acting professionally. I know the world of theatre, it's full of deceit and sex and ungodliness. But thats where my passion lies right now, and I'm wondering if it would be suicidal to my faith to jump in there and try to live for God at the same time. To attempt to be "in it not of it" ya know? Any thoughts on this subject would be such a blessing. Thanks guys.

I don't think it would be suicidal to your faith, in fact, I think it could be an inspiration to many to see an actress who isn't preoccupied with sex, money and fashion. There are definatley perks to being in the business, but you can stand out as a person who respects yourself and Christ, Jesssica Simpson (The singer) comes to mind when I think of that. JillLars brings up some valid points. The "business" could surely use some postive role models for a change. And that could be a place that the Lord has for you.

Maybe an examination of your motives would help. Do you really want to do this because you feel it is a calling from God or because you miss your friends and you don't want to miss out on what they are doing? Sometimes it is very easy to get the two confused, when it is something that we really want. Trust me, I know. But I have learned that if it is something that God has for you to do, rest assured, He will make a way for it to happen. Just continue to seek His counsel and ask Him to show you what He has for you.

Maybe God has plans to use you as a role model in the world of acting! We can't know His plans, though...this is something I'm learning for myself right now. Keep on praying, and He will show you His will!
