On the continent of Chrystia, war has broken out. On one side, the country of Gahanna. On the other, the country of Farore. Gahanna attacked Farore without warning, and decimated their forces at the Gahanna-Farore border.
Another problem in this time is the Zen Crisis. Zen is the magical energy that every living thing has a right to use....Humans discovered it long ago, around a thousand years ago before the nations were erected.
To find the cause of Gahanna's attack, and the Zen Crisis, Princess Akinya has volunteered herself to go ona mission to look for the causes of these problems.
Time Period:
The time takes place in a period in which swords and shields were popular, like the Middle Ages. If you've ever played a Fire Emblem game, just think about it like that (it saves me time trying to explain it).

This was terrible. It was horrible, and, for lack of a better word, it sucked. King James was listening to the casulty count.
Farore's border had just been attacked a day ago, and the battle was already over. Forced to retreat, the survivng soldiers withdrew.
"Two-thirds of our border guard, killed." King James grunted. His wife, King Elizabeth, sat on the throne next to him. "It seems awful.....I know our ties with Gahanna have never been easy, but....To just attack?" Queen Elizabeth said. She resumed her position of staring at the floor.
"That will be all." King james said, gesturing the man who had told him the count out of the throne room. His daughter, Princess Akinya, and her friend, Kyla, the Royal Tactician, stood before them.
"Akinya, Kyla, you have just heard the casualty count of the border guard. Gahanna has attacked our borders, and we are threatened by iminent war.....I want you two safe. I do not want you to see what happens to our two countries as cause of the war. I want you to go to Selia, and talk to King Hayden, and tell him that I sent you." King James sighed.
"Our soldiers won't be able to adequately fight, James. We're fighting a losing battle...." Queen Elizabeth spoke up. "Yes....The Zen crisis. Gahanna's soldiers haven't seemed to been affected." James cursed.
(((Okay, LuvAslan, you should try and resist King James, and we'll lead up to the point where you volunteer to go off and find the causes of both problems.)))

Gabriel sat there next to the fire, eating some fried chicken meat. David was sharpening his sword against a sharpening rock. Gabriel sighed, and with his mouth full, said, "Must you do that while we're eating?, but what he really said was, "Mufft you doo dat whifle we're feating?"

((I'm missing some information, so I'll make it up. Gabriel's location: In a clearing in the forest, late afternoon, but still daylight.))
Skairn moved silently through the forest. He saw some people through slits in the trees, and he stopped, homing in on them. he had been wandering for three days, and his supplies were nearly gone, but he had arrived at civilization at last. Before moving forward, Skairn put an image of himself in their minds - forcing them to believe that someone, somewhere looked exactly as Skairn did. He hoped that upon seeing him, they would immediately recognize him and be more prone to assume he was an old friend than an old enemy. This done, Skairn walked into the clearing, allowing himself to step on random twigs.
"Hello, I haven't seen you in a while. Forgive me, I'm terrible with names. Who are you again?"

Gabriel turned. His first thought was that this was a stranger who wanted to rob them, but his thoughts quickly changed to that of someone he recognized. The man standing before him seemed familiar to him. "My name is Gabriel. And this is david. I'm sure you remember us now...And, you are? I'm sorry, it seems I'm just as bad with names...." Gabriel said.

"I'm Elmer. It's nice to be with friends again. The town I've been living in for the past year or so was destroyed by a natural disaster. About half the town escaped unharmed, but I don't suppose there's anything left of it now." Skairn walked over, took a set by the fire and unslung his pack. He then opened it and removed two potatoes and a loaf of bread. Eying them critically, he said, "I packed much too hastily. I love potatoes, mind you, but I'm starting to get a bit tired of them. Bread adds a bit of variety, but it's almost the same thing." After saying this, he took a bite of the bread.

A part of Gabriel's subconcious rejected these facts, but the part that had been affected by Skairn rejected this, and continued along. "Well, it's nice to see you again, and I'm sorry about your village. David and I just returned from a job, and we came back here to find out there's a war about......I bet all the royal types are running around, acting like chicken's with they're heads cut off....." Gabriel said.

"War? That's interesting. Out of the frying pan, into the fire. Who's invading?" Skairn tried to remember what nation he was in.

"Gahanna invaded Farore's borders a day or so ago. The battle's already over, and the royal family's in a panic, but they haven't addressed the problem to the people, but unfortunately, word leaked out, and most of the citizens are fleeing to Selia." Gabrel said. He scratched the back of his neck. "It's a pain for us, too.....War doesn't help the mercenary business, you know....

Skairn nodded. They're mercenaries. "It doesn't? I had thought mercenaries would be rushing for the army at a time like this."
