Thanks, all the windows are now in, and the copper roof is complete throughout except for some trim. The design is about 1000 years old, many churches like this can be seen throughout the Republic of Georgia.

Lovely location, too! It'll be so serene when everything's finished and you guys can get the grass put in, all those smaller details, etc. (small compared to building the church, that is!!)

I am wondering though about the roof, that must have been pretty expensive, any special reason for the copper?

Oh, what a beautiful church!! I don't have one of mine, it's extremely small and doesn't look very Orthodox except for the three-barred cross out front, but it's home. Yours looks especially nice with the cross on top.

My apologies, I just saw this question. I think we picked copper for both it's longevity and its beauty (it is treated so it will stay a nice rustic brown rather than oxidizing). I am not sure of the cost, but it took quite some time to install and hand form on site.
