I think I'll be buying it from him within the year.

Reps: 2,628 (power: 16) | | coastie.. the 89 came either with the carburated 4.2L inline six, or the 2.5L fuel injected four cylinder. I personally don't work well with carbs, so I wouldn't get a jeep with a carb. From 1991 and after, they were all fuel injected, including the six cylinders.
Jeeps are mega money pits, but tons of fun. So if you buy it, don't use it at a daily driver unless you got wads of cash

Reps: 2,628 (power: 16) | | | Ok, here are some pics from last weekend. A buddy and I installed a 4" suspension lift. We ditched the stock springs, installed new ones, new shocks, sway bar disconnects, and threw out both trac bars.
Here are the before and after photos, pretty cool. I now have seven iches of lift and puny 33" tires

His is the 2.5.
At first we were a little wary about getting a 2.5L, but my dad really wanted the fuel injection for rock crawling (making odd angles not such a gas guzzling venture).
His has been incredibly reliable... just little stuff here and there. The biggest problem he has had with it was with the hubs. It was an easy fix, and it has around 139 thou on it.
It has definately been worth the money.

Reps: 10 (power: 0) | | | Nice Jeep. Every time we look for new cars we always look at the Jeeps. Some day I have a feeling I will buy one.

thanks.
I say don't buy it as a daily driver unless you live within biking distance to work
It is a great project vehicle, something fun to tear down and build back up. And when the weather is nice, it is unreal. No top and no doors is a sweet feeling.

cool, so him and I basically have the same Jeep. Mine was a base model, so I don't have power steering, lol. It gets real tough when offroading and having to manually turn the tire over a stump or something
My 2.5 started blowing oil into the air box... then it got worse and oil would blow out of my dipstick tube (I had bad piston rings). So I swapped in a 2.5L from a 97 wrangler. It bolted right in, it was sweet. I just used all my exhaust and injection, wiring, all that, from the old engine. The 2.5 has not changed at all. You can see in that pic when I am hugging the new engine... lol But now I have no leaks, and no oil blow by, which is much much better, that was so annoying. If you want a spare oil pan, or valve cover, I still have the old engine. Shoot, if you live near Detroit, come get the whole thing for free. Oh, and if you ever want to switch to manual steering, I would be happy to trade you

I live in Western Washington, but I'm a California native, just in Washington because that's where the Coast Guard sent me.
I grew up in Oakdale, CA (near Modesto) and about two hours from the rock crawling Mecca of the Sierra Nevada's Rubicon Valley.
I really like the Chrome grill. It doesn't look like you have rocker panels. Do you do much rock crawling?
