Thanks for the compliment! I agree - we all rock. And it is the best forum on CF. And I can hardly wait for the CF Singles Reunion in heaven some day.
Christmas went fine. I did go to church with my parents, but realized within moments that I was not, by a long shot, the only single woman home alone with her parents while her siblings visited inlaws. And I was so warmly welcomed and greeted by various friends of my parents, parents of my old classmates, etc. that there wasn't time to feel outcasted. I really am blessed to have that heritage.
As for the desire to be married - well, there was one couple at Christmas dinner whose baiting and bickering pushed me to this surprising thought: "Boy, I'm glad I'm not married. What if I had to live with that day in and day out?"

I think the main reason why old maids act like they do is because they're bitter. |

Princess, I completely empathize. I am also a single woman with two cats who has been working on accepting the fact that I may never marry...at least not in my prime. Perhaps I am not as far along as you are in this area because, frankly, I'm still working on being content about it. Marriage and family is somthing that I really long for and I find myself periodically checking the mirror to make sure that I've not sprouted a 2nd head or 3rd eye of which I've previously been unaware.
I wish I had it all figured out so that I could give you some words of wisdom. As it is, I have no real words of wisdom, except this....
TWO CATS IS ABSOLUTELY THE LIMIT! At least that's the rule I've set for myself. I've come to the conclusion that, once you get that third cat, there really is no stopping you from there. It's only a matter of time before you become that "cat lady down the street with 35 cats whose house has the 'funny smell' ".

I dunno. What if Mr. Right came along and saw you in the big pink slippers and tahitian print housecoat at the mall? I know I'd probably run the other way.
There are ways of being outstanding and excellent and non-stereotypical, without being wacko. Have friends over for a fancy dinner. Take interesting vacations, and meet new people. Do volunteer work. Run for office. Take classes in subjects that you like, then teach them. Dump the cats, get a ferret. |

Hopefully i'm still young enough to not be thought of as an old maid, but if i'm older and still single I intend on dressing in a way that is flattering to me and being really pretty and gracious and having an amazing ministry like starting an orphanage or something. That's kinds my plan if i get married too although it could be a little different.
One of my college professors was an "old maid" in the sense that she was in her late 30's , never married, had cats. People felt bad for her. She didn't want to be single. Then , she met her husband and she is so happy! I don't know the reason why she had to be single all those years, she was and is a lovely person and a strong Christian. Never give up hope! Anything can happen!
