Anyone here sew? (as in using a sewing machine)

Hi, I have a problem with my sewing machine. I think it needs oil and I have no idea where to put it.

I'm a bit of a self taught novice. I just get the fabric, have a go and see what I can do with it. My mum taught me a few things, and I am OK at doing simple basics which thankfully 9/10 times they are wearable lol.

Anyway, one day it was working fine, then the next day it's all bobbly at the back where the thread comes out of the bobbin. Some have suggested rethreading the bobbin, some have suggested oil, I am thinking oil, becaue I've had it for nearly 2 years and haven't put oil in it.

Last time this happened mum fixed it up for me and she's overseas now, so I can't really contact her, not over something like this anyway.

So if anyone can give me some tips that would be great.

I won't see my mum before Christmas and I was hoping to do some Christmas gifts on my sewing machine.

If I can't get it sorted I am just going to have to get my knitting needles going instead.

Now I am wishing I had taken her up on that offer to pay for professional sewing lessons, I am sure they would have talked about this there.

It's a singer - a really old one that came from a garage sale. It's a little beauty though.

Anyway, I pulled it out, had another look, fiddled a bit and got it working.

So glad too.

Made up a little bag for my neice, she is getting a shopping trolley (kid size) for Christmas, and now she has a little purse to go with it. It's so cute.
