Thinking about how medicine allows people with , example; genetic diseases or weak immune systems to live longer and reproduce, does this "degrade" the gene pool? I dont know the correct vocabulary, but I am sure you get an idea of the question I am asking. A related question of the impact that viruses has had on human evolution.
not really, no, since it does not really affect who you choose as a partner.granted it will allow more genetic faults to exist, but if we can deal with them, they are not a problem.
Because of human intelligence, we have taken a kind of leap above evolution anyway, it is largely irrelevant to us now, since if we have a problem, we will think a way round it.

How does medicine help people with a weak immune system? Are you talking about CFIDS sense that seems to be the catch all now a days? I think I heard that AIDS can impact the immunity system also.
In my case I had a son at 25 and another son at 45. They are both just as healthy and intelligent. I have three friends who had babies in their 60's. I do not see any "degrade" in the gene pool at all.
From a barebones survive view, it probably weakens it, however from an advanced technology view, it probably strengthens it. Just think of how many inteligent people might not have been around if it wasnt for medicine, or how many athletes, etc.
