Our state is in the grip of a terrible drought.. and also from massive bush-fires in the Gipsland areas.. They say the bushfires could rage for weeks... A good rain would put the fires out.. or at least help ease conditions!!
I thought we should open a thread for prayer.. for rain.. rain... rain... and for whatever else we need prayer for... Our country, people, families etc... 2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

It's gotten to the stage where I am using the kids bath water in the evening instead of having a hot shower, and I know that paddling pool I bought is a waste of time, I am going to be drilling holes in the bottom and planting vegetables in it. I water the vegies with a bucket every 2nd day, rather than every day. I am planting my own vegies this year because the cost of vegies is going to go up more.
Also, please pray for a friend of ours, she is in hospital again. She has ovarian cancer and a few months ago was told she was going to live for around 5 or so months. (I think this was 2 months ago she was told this)
She has been in and out of hospital all week. So it's a really sad time for us at the moment. |

We are on stage 4 restrictions.. the highest level.. We can only use grey water to water things in the garden.. Most garden are dying and dry.. sports ovals dry.. I really miss the color especially green..
Our local lake is almost completely bone dry.. it is so sad to see.. the lake is a central part of our city.. Even the huge big old trees in the botanical garden are dying.. they are dying from lack of water over the last 10 years.. less and less rainfall.. they are trying everything to save them...
I will pray for your friend..
Dear Father God, Why is our country so dry? Why is this precious friend so sick? Father I put these matters into Your hands.. Only You really know.. Father I pray for rain.. rain is so precious.. Father I pray for relief from the bush fires.. and for this friends suffering.. Father comfort her and help her.. Father You can heal her.. I ask for healing.. Father I pray for rain.. rain.. rain.. Holy Spirit our land of Australia needs you.. Our people need You.. Father so much money being spent on things coming up to Christmas.. time spent working for what?? We really have lost the plot.. Oh how we need You.. Just You.. Help us Lord.. amen

Heavy smoke starting to blanket the area around our farm this afternoon.
Hot day, strong westerly wind and dry grass everywhere.
Not good.

I didn't think you were allowed to use grey water to water vegies.
I have thought about using the water left after boiling the vegies to water my vegetables. Is that allowed (Obviously after letting it cool down a bit)
I'm already in to recycling the water from the washing machine and doing as little washing as possible (eg. trying to get a 2nd wear out of most items of clothing, especially if we haven't been doing much that day) |

I have larger pots of strawberries.. and use water from the tap for them.. being excess water from sinks and stuff.. rinse water or the left over water from school drinking bottles that the kids have left over.. I don't waste a drop!!
I'd say that water from vegies would be okay to use!! Probably good for the plants!!

I have a grey water system and have eaten vegies grown from it.
It is probably better to use the grey water with drippers at the base of the plant... however, I've eaten vegetables irrigated with grey water from sprayers and provided they are peeled or boiled... they're OK to eat.
Sometimes there are council regulations not allowing it... but local government is not always known for common sense.

Reps: 80,481 (power: 90) | | | I'm in Sale - went to a town meeting yesterday and they're execting that even here in the middle of a city (ok, a small city, but never thought i'd have to worry about bushfires and my house) that we're going to have to be prepared to protect our homes from ember attacks.
It's hard to know what to think with all the media sensationalism (and trust me, the media IS sensationalising the situation) what is really going on and what is likely to happen, but there are definately going to be lots of people's homes at risk to the north of the settled areas, and the firefighters are just going to be spread way too thin to cope with it all - there just aren't enough people/resources to fight this thing.
One of two things will put out the fires.... a......heavy rain..... b. the coast - seriously, this fire may burn all the way to the south cost of victoria
