They were both kinsmen, they were both wealthy... Ruth 1:2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there. Ruth 1:3a And Elimelech Naomi’s husband died;
the time of famine came, Elimelech decided to go down to Moab to ride out the famine, he thought if he went down to Moab his wealth would be protected and he would come back when the famine was over and he would still have his wealth... he died in Moab, a stranger in a strange land... Ruth 1:3b and she was left, and her two sons. Ruth 1:4 And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years. Ruth 1:5 And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.
his sons married uncovenanted women and as a result the women were barren... they also died as strangers in a strange land and left no heritage...
So much for human reasoning... Ruth 2:1 And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.
Boaz was also a man of wealth, but when the famine came he didn't go anywhere but trusted God and when the famine was over Boaz was a mighty man in the land...
Elimelech trusted in his own reasoning and it brought him poverty and death...
Boaz trusted God in the famine and he became very prosperous... Prov. 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Boldness, confidence and faith go together. Our confidence is in the Lord to provide or heal or protect etc. That was just a thought the Lord laid on me there.
