Creation & EvolutionForum for the discussion of this important topic. This forum is open to non-believers. There is a Christians-only forum in the Christians-only section too.
Yes folks, its a new argument to turn people away from God and into the embrace of Atheistic truth!
Evolution is Atheism!
Yes folks, even the fundamentalist christians say it, that evolution is equivalent to Atheism as it does not include God! If you accept this most strong of theories you must turn your back on your false God!
Okay, so that was a little silly. But my point is that the 'Creationism=Christianity, Evolution=Atheism' attitude can (and is) used by both fundamentalist Christians and fundamentalist Atheists. (yes they do exist. I have the same attitude to them as I do to a fundie christian)
The equivocation of Evolution and Atheism could turn as many people away from Christianity as it does evolution.
If anyone doubts this, I can give you a confirmed example of a person I know very well losing faith this way by being forced to choose between the Bible and science.

I submit that the equivocation turns more people away from Christianity. After all, science is based on experience available to everyone. Push comes to shove, if creationism demands that they deny their own experience, people will stick with their experience and discard Christianity.
BTW, I share your attitude toward fundamentalist (militant) atheists. As several atheists on this forum have discovered! And that attitude is the same as toward fundamentalist Christians.
Welcome to the middle ground, PhantomLlama. At least we get to share it with such people as Charles Darwin, Niles Eldredge, Kenneth Miller, Robert Pennock, and Eugenie Scott. Not bad company to hang out with.

Better than sharing company with Kent Hovind.
Oh yeah. A lot better.
"Nor do I think we can afford these stupid culture wars, with people like Phillip Johnson getting upset that his version of God seems threatened because scientists have discovered that life developed over 3.5 billion years ago on the planet and feel that they can explain how that happened through purely natural causes. Nor can we afford the arrogant intolerance of the scientists who claim that their science -- evolution in particular -- demonstrates unequivocally that there is no God. "Fundamentalist atheists". Cute. Now where's that holy book we all look to for our doctrines...

What would you need a holy book for? Can´t you remember the doctrine?
Repeat after me.
There is no god!
There cannot be a god!
There must not be a god!

So a "fundamentalist" atheist is one who ... returns to the fundamentals of there being no god(s)?
And that's different from regular atheists because _______________ (fill in the blank)?

Hah, those "regular" atheists are not true atheists at all. They are heretics, worse than those admitting God-believers.
But for their blaspheming at the fundamentals of atheism, they will burn forever in, err, yes, err...
Curses, foiled again!

I would define a fundamentalist atheist as an atheist who is willing to use an argument to cause people to lose faith regardless of whether the argument is true or valid.
Like fundamentalist Christians, fundamentalist atheists would have difficulty having friendly discussion with someone who disagreed with them.

So basically you equate arrogance with fundamentalism, despite the fact that the former can apply to anyone, whereas the latter is a religious term. Quite disingenuous. I applaud you
