HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE PRAYER TEAM (December 14 2007, copied from post 101)
1. Read through the forum guidelines: http://christianforums.com/t6638024-forum-specific-guidelines-updated-01-07.html 2. IMPORTANT: I do not know who is currently assigning the prayer icon. The Princess Bride used to be in charge of the praying hands prayer icons. I have sent a PM to one of the supermoderators to find out. PLEASE POST HERE IF YOU HAVE MORE INFO.
What Prayer Team Members Do: As a prayer team member, you'll want to come out to the prayer room (http://christianforums.com/prayer) as often as you can (ideally, daily) and pray for those who have left prayer requests. Post an encouraging message to each person so they'll know that you care and have prayed for them. You can type out your prayer or you can simply say that you've prayed for the person.
Other Ideas: * If you see someone with a sad, depressed or otherwise distressed icon, send them a private message (PM) and ask if you can pray for them about something (or simply pray for them before you send the PM and then PM them to let them know). * Add something to your signature/footer that encourages people to send you prayer requests or to post them in the prayer room area. * Tell your friends (in real life!) to come out here and post their prayer requests. * Invite your friends (on Christian Forums and in real life) to become prayer team members. * Start posting prayer requests for yourself and others you know. * Begin a prayer chain for a celebrity. * If you've prayed for someone, consider PM-ing that person at a later date to see how they're doing. * Pray for nonchristians in this thread: http://christianforums.com/f273-prayer-requests-by-non-christians.html

Hello everyone
The following is a slightly modified copy of the original PM I sent to the Prayer Team. If you would like to join, please post here. The post after the blue line is a slightly modified version of the original post I had here, just updated to reflect the changes.
The following is the modified PM:
The Prayer Team is now accepting new members as a result of just finishing it's new structure. The structure is as follows:

The purpose of the change is to make sure that the Team will be able to cover all, or at least most, areas of prayer in a way that everything will be prayed for. As you can see from the graph above, the Team is divided into 5 different groups, all of which have their own missions and goals. Each group also has it's own leaders as follows:
World prayer group: sc4s2cg (me, temporary)
CF prayer group: cat_goes_meow
Individual Requests prayer group: Angeldove97
Prayer Team prayer group: sc4s2cg (me, temporary)
Prayer Forum prayer group: Sand Crab
As you can see, the responsibilities of the leaders are outlined in the graph as well. It is up to the leaders whether they would like to further divide the group into subgroups, hold prayer chats, and how to follow up on prayer requests, as well as to decide on the green rectangles in the graph. The green rectangles are merely suggestions or "idea prodders".
Please note that all of this does not make our team just another program, prayer comes from the heart, from you, and goes straight to the L-rd. By selecting the group you'd like to be in, you are not limiting yourself to pray for only the area of that group. Prayer cannot, and will not, be limited. But this way there will be a specific area for a group that will be the major focus. We do need to organize our Team a bit more, and this is what the new structure is aimed at doing. That said, to get this Team going, please reply to this PM stating which group you would like to be in, which group would G-d want you to be in? Any suggestions, comments, or concerns are also appreciated.
You may all also remember our quest to get a Prayer Team forum. That quest has not been given up, in fact Erwin has agreed to the Prayer Team forum and icons, and has appointed The Princess Bride as leader of the Prayer Team. What this means is that The Princess Bride and I are going to co-lead the Prayer Team together: specifics have yet to be discussed, but so far I will add new members and she will apply the icons and forums and stuff. We are still waiting on Erwin to fix some bugs in the icons so the forums will be available only to those who have that (Prayer Team) icon. There's a preview (there is no option to have one for yourself as of yet) of the icon in The Princess Bride's profile. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
If you'd like to join please ask yourself the following questions: A) Will I be able to deal with the stress? --->People tend to take over others problems and place it on their own shoulders. B) Do I have the time to pray for others? --->Time is of crucial importance. Even though the Team just (hopefully!) started, we will be praying for many, many requests. Of course, you can make time too. For example, I pray while in the shower. C) Am I strong enough to pray for other's problems? ---> This one is of extreme importance as well. Not everyone is called to be Prayer Warriors or Prayer Team Members, at least at this time. D) Am I willing to let G-d in my own life? --->Prayer, especially for and with others, will be a time to get to know our amazing Almighty, a time not only to ask Him and pray for others, but to worship Him as well.
I'd like to stress, however, that Prayer Team members can make requests too of and for each other. We are all human, after all.
