Project Stop The Strawmen

As has been pointed out repeatedly, the scientists on this board are sick and tired of refuting the same nonsense again and again and again. Many are ready to give up, but this would be bad for everyone. The creationists would lose all hope of being deprogrammed, the people who sit on the fence would end up being creationists as they do not have the scientists to help them, and the remaining scientists and evolution-accepters would be ovverwhelmed by creationist numerical superiority.

I started this thread so that people can suggest and discuss ideas to stop the strawmen and clear the forums for proper discussion. I would also appreciate Mod commentary on why a particular idea is rejected if it is.

My suggestions:
1. Forum-specific bans to stop the more dogmatic and inflammatory bigots from obstructing this board, but when a full ban is not appropriate.
2. An ideas bank to refer Hovindites and other proponents of the PRATT list to. (credit for this goes to someone else who proposed it first but I cannot remember the name of)

Something must be done.



P.S. No discussion of Creation/Evolution here please.

Im not sure about the bans. Most of the people who are imflamatory biggots generally show themselves and get ignored after awhile and they lose interest and go find someone else to harass.

Creation/evolution. Ha I said it.

We have an idea bank already, TalkOrigins.  The problem with that idea is that the YEC apologists will just whine about bias and tools of Satan or some other such nonsense.  Any efforts made here are for those who are on the fence and the few YECs who still have a sliver of an open mind.  The die-hard YECs will rationalize any nonsense and dismiss any information they have to in order to maintain their delusions.
