Reps: 34 (power: 0) | | | Lurkers: Anyone learned anything? Several of us are getting to the breaking point having these same discussions over and over and refuting Dr. Dino and ICR and AiG over and over. Unless I am a complete anomoly, a few of us are thinking about running away from these forums fast.
So my question is, has anyone learned anything? Are there people out there who read the debates but don't post that would be disappointed to see them cease? I don't care which side of the debate you agree with...just do these headbanging sessions mean anything to anyone?
Please lurkers, give us some feedback...if not here then PM your favorite participant and let them know you enjoy reading their posts or appreciate the time they take, or whatever.
I learn so much when new topics are discussed, but so much is just the same argument in 5 different threads at a time.
I am ready to throw in the towel here... |

My time here, and on infidels.org have been priceless learning experiences - I've gotten more raw, factual DATA out of these two sites than I got out of the entirety of my high school education in geology and biology/biochemistry. My position is unchanged; atheist going in, atheist still, but I would be very sad to see these debates cease. While they do become repetative, as I learn, I hope to eventually be able to authoritatively join in these debates, and have others learn from me.
It's hard, it's repetative, but it's important to do this for the sake of teaching. There are other people like me out there.

Reps: 382 (power: 0) | | | I was a lurker for a few months. I enjoyed reading the posts so much I became a member. Don't give up! You are at least slowing the flow of new creationists even if you are unsucessful in deprogramming existing bigots.

However, I have learned much from the debates
with those who use AIG, Hovind, And Dino as their sources.

For one thing, there are always new members joining who may not have had them before. I have not just had my views confirmed, there has been much to give me thought and my views have been challenged, although not yet significantly changed.

OK, here's is my 2 cents, I'm surprised at the continual attacks on the Bible in here, but I hope these threads continue. You never know when something in life would remind you of something that was said on these threads. I call it planting seeds.

Reps: 34 (power: 0) | | | A troll is someone who posts items specifically to inflame or derail the discussion. Sometimes they will pretend to be something other than they are to make their opponent look bad (an atheist posing as a Christian and spouting nonsense or hate speech to make Christians look bad or vice versa. I have come across both)
Basically trolls don't want to discuss or learn or teach, they want to cause a disturbance | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
