Reps: 59 (power: 0) | | | Helium 4? From http://www.drdino.com/cse.asp?pg=art...amp;specific=2
The amount of Helium 4 in the atmosphere, divided by the formation rate on earth, gives only 175,000 years. (God may have created the earth with some helium which would reduce the age more.) (1, p. 151; 6, p. 42; 9, p. 25)
How dose this fit into evoultion? Or why is it incorrect?

Reps: 1,795,728 (power: 1,807) | | | It is incorrect since the Earth produces helium naturally and therefore replaces some of it that escapes.
Since the Earth produces helium you can't do a simple step down in your age calculations like they did here. |

If the calculation is done with Argon 40 which has no mechanism to escape the atmosphere an age consistent with a 4.5 billion year old earth is found. (H.A. Shillibeer and R.D. Russell Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, v.8, pp.16-21 (1955)).

Jon, Frumious and Lewis gave you the answers. Might I suggest you read talkorigins before you ask here?
When dealing with any extrapolation, you have to make sure that the compound isn't being removed from the system. In this case, helium is light enough (remember helium balloons) that individual helium molecules can move fast enough to achieve escape velocity.
Remember this removal from the system when you come to the salts in the ocean as another faulty argument for a young earth. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
