Reps: 59 (power: 0) | | | more people needing eye glasses Now that genetics is a maturing field, we can intelligently work to correct genetic defects that are no longer eliminated through natural selection (For instance, more and more people are needing eye glasses as the gene for misshapen eyes is passed down).
I thought the evolution was about evolving or becoming more adapted to our enviornment.
Having bad eyes dosn't help.

Well if we were living out in the wild everyone with bad eye sight would get picked off by predators because they couldn't see them. But since we're intelligent we can adapt our environment to suit ourselves, and invent things like glasses to correct genetic defects.

Reps: 59 (power: 0) | | So as time goes on there will be more and more defects, humans will become more an more disordered(as stated in the seccond law of thermodynamics). Humans will then use technology to help them get over there disability, and eventually will no long me human......

If you have a specific trait within members of a population and that trait is selected against, then that trait will disappear.
As wblastyn said, if we were living in the wild like animals, those with poor eyesight (with no ability to correct the problem) would be at a disadvantage compared to those with good eyesight. Hence, those with poor eyesight would be elimated from the population along with the respective genes that cause poor eyesight.
Now, in the case of modern humans, because we can invent things (like glasses) to correct poor eyesight, these traits are not being selected against. In other words, the genes for poor eyesight don't disappear from the population. |

Because each animal on Earth occupies a specific environmental niche. For example, fish only live in water (for the most part). But different species of fish live in different types of water in different places around the globe(shallow to deep ocean, lakes, streams, rivers, salt-water, fresh-water, etc). Each of those species of fish is adapted for whatever particular enviroment it occupies.
Ditto with humans. Ever wondered why dark-skinned people come from warm, sunny places like Africa, and light-skinned people come from colder, less-sunny places like Northern Europe? Environmental adaptation. |

Why not?
If it is the tendency for things to become disordered how would we evoulve?
phyical capibilites of humans (higher the number the more capible):
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 (human records start here) 9 8 7 6 .......
I don't know if this is an acuate illiustraion but I hope you get what I'm trying to say

And how many of those people who need eye glasses need them because they have been abusing their eyes with computer monitors, tv's, and gameboys? Not saying these things are bad but when it comes to my eyes...they aren't adapting to that environmental influence very well!
