Mane are to be knowledgable in the sound doctrine of the Lor.
1 Timothy 4:6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
1 Timothy 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
Colossians 1:15 [Now] He is the exact likeness of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible]; He is the Firstborn of all creation.
We are to represent Jesus, not man, through the Holy Ghost.
John 14:26 But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.
We are to act as God's, not man's, representatives in the earth.
2 Corinthians 5:20 So we are Christ's ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ's personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.
Colossians 3:12 Clothe yourselves therefore, as God's own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper].
1 Peter 4:9 Practice hospitality to one another (those of the household of faith). [Be hospitable, be a lover of strangers, with brotherly affection for the unknown guests, the foreigners, the poor, and all others who come your way who are of Christ's body.] And [in each instance] do it ungrudgingly (cordially and graciously, without complaining but as representing Him).
Gal. 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
the word another here is the word heteros, which means another of a different kind... or a different kind of Gospel...
Gal. 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
the word another here is the word allos, which means another of the same kind... there are different gospels but they are not the same gospel as Paul preached and he is telling us to beware of them because they actually are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ...
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

When you think about these words, I'm reminded that they are the perfect discription of the Love of God, and a discription of His nature. This has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, that we have already received as being made His. This is a reaffirmation of what God is like.
I am particuarly taken by the words, "Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth" If this is a discription of the nature of God, then will we do anything less, than not delight in evil, but rejoice in the truth?

As do I. We need to use the scripture to rightly divide scripture and to read and study it out for ourselves so that we know for ourselves what the truth is. It is not good enough for us to let others dictate what truth is or to believe something just because someone said it. It is our responsibility to search it out and to make sure that what we are being fed is the truth. If we get to a place where we are content to be complacent then we are in a place that we will never grow in balance and in true knowledge of God. We will only grow in dillusion and 'flakiness'. We find out God's person and his character from his Word. It is a beautiful love letter written to his children so that we can understand and know him and therefore walk in closer relationship with him.
Never settle for second best or take someones words for granted. Make sure they line up with God's words.
