PLease pray for my little boy. He stuggles with a specific learning difficulty- as yet not properly diagnosed, and he is extremely frustrated by life's practicalities. We have hit an obstacle in the process of getting him seen by medical folk. He is a bright lad on the verge of quitting trying. He believes himself to be 'rubbish at everything' when in fact he is a bright and talented fellow. He just cannot accept praise- I dunno. Just please pray that his path maight be made a little bit smoother, and that he wold be less anxious about things. He is eight.

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

Please pray for me as I have a lot on my plate on the moment. I am going through a tough time with recovery from being abused as a child. I am also starting senior year as of Monday. I am considering re-applying as a debate moderator on here. Please just pray that things go smoother for me.

On Tuesday, February 24, my mother will be at a hearing over the status of her unemployment benefits. Her former employer is saying she is ineligible for unemployment because she left voluntarily, when my mother was actually laid off. If they find against my mother, she will not only lose her unemployment benefits, but also have to pay back what she has already received.
Apparently this kind of fraudulent behavior from employers is becoming more and more common, according to the Washington Post.
Update (2/24): Thankfully, my mother's former employer never showed up to the hearing, so the board found in her favor by default. The employer still has a couple of weeks to appeal the decision, however.
Update (3/24): The employer has not appealed the decision, and I think by now enough time has elapsed that they have lost their right to do so. Yay! Now we just need to find a job...

Hi everybody, I'm submitting on behalf of the lady who is primary leader of the women's group at the UUA church my wife and I attend. She just got home from 5 weeks in hospital from a nasty scare with diverticulitis. In her words, she's alive but weak as a dishrag right now. She's in her 60s and hitherto was very vibrant. We just heard from her by email so I have no idea how she is in person as of yet.
