You are right.
There isn't anything at all wrong with standing in faith for a scholarship.
And the children involved to believe God will take care of them.
It is good to have wisdom, and to have a savings planned for certain activities. But if we are to be able to have trust that God will take care of us, and our children, it takes a total dependence outlook, and practice, to put God in the drivers seat.
There is a mindset about prosperity, and substance in the Church today.
Take for example when Jesus was born. He was born in a stable, with animals, and He was wrapped in swaddling clothes. So since this is the setting for the birth of jesus, it is automatically assumed by some, that it is never God's will for us to be blessed with prosperity.
What some christians fail to connect, or see, is that Jesus was born in a stable, but not before they went to the local Jewish Holiday Inn (LOLOLOLOL), and was turned away because of a lack of room, or rooms. It was never "in the stable" because they were broke, because it takes money to pay for rooms.
The same is true today. God doesn't need our money, he wants our obedience, and that is what prosperity is all about.
You cannot serve God and mammon, but that doesn't mean that any preacher, or servant of God can't have a good substance.
It is when we serve money, and covet it for our illgotten gain, do we then put money before God.
God doesn't need our money. But what is money? It is power. So its not the money, but it's the ability to be obedient with this power that God see's the heart, and knows if we serve Him, or if we serve money.
For obedient givers, and tithers, and sacrificial givers, that bless others, know that God owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and He isn't slack in rewarding those that have substance but they remain true to Him, because they know money without God is a losing battle.
It is the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil.
And prosperity isn't always monetary.
I have preached in churches that after the message, people have came up to me, and put a check in my hand, because they said God told them to bless me. I never looked for it, but it has happened several times.
Everything i obtain, God gets the first fruits.
