Reps: 351 (power: 0) | | | Should women teach? Should women teach?
(1 tim 2 NASB)
11 A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.
12
But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.
13 For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.
14
And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.
15 But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.

I do watch Joyce Myres on TV and enjoy her teaching, but dont know how i would feel about a female priest or minister teaching me in my own church until i experienced it. |

Reps: 2,449 (power: 10) | | I'm a woman and I teach in my church. I don't think there's a problem with it. I also know a lot of female pastors. I think women can teach. I do.

Reps: 21,805 (power: 42) | | Joyce Meyers is a powerful teacher...so that logically means that women can teach men? That does not follow. Scripture is clear on the issue. Crustal clear. You have to explain away scripture in order for it to be alright for women to teach men.
This doesn't even begin to adress the OP's quote, which is scripture:
(1 tim 2 NASB)
11(V)A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.
12(W)But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.
13(X)For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.
14And it was not Adam who was deceived, but (Y)the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 15But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in (Z)faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.
Scripture also says this:
Matthew 7:22 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' 23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'
I for one would much prefer to follow scripture rather than follow man's supposed wisdom on an issue as important as who is to teach. Everyone has their roles in the kingdom and we should strive to fill those roles. I will not be one who is sent away from Christ despite miracles and prophecies in His name! I would urge all to follow the clear teaching of scripture on this matter.
A decent breakdown of the matter can be found here:
http://jimhamilton.wordpress.com/2006/09/02/may-women-teach-men-at-church/
Ending with: Paul has said, “I do not permit a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man,” and he does not qualify this statement by saying that women can teach men if the senior pastor approves, or if they have the blessing of their husbands. Such an interpretation can only stand if the interpreter himself qualifies Paul’s command by importing foreign data into the context, thereby distorting what Paul said.
Scripture is clear on the matter and mentions it in more than one place. I don't care how good a teacher Joyce Meyers might be she has absolutely no place teaching men. |

People 'explain away scripture' FAR too often.
I've personally seen MANY-MANY women (Christian or not),
who just want to 'power-trip' men,
out of ANGER,
ALL THE TIME.
What they fail to realize,
is that it's at the expense of the TRUTH,
their MUEL-like stiff-necked STUBORNESS,
POLLUTES The Message.
All because
they want to 'show that man'.
Bah!!!
To such women, I say:
"BE SILENT!"

Reps: 2,135 (power: 11) | | | There is something about a female, God had to put Adam to sleep to make us. Interesting? If it takes a donkey to preach the word and heal this world , who cares? If you look at it clearly Apostle Paul said "I DO NOTpermit..." I don't see Jesus Christ anywhere. Yes, he was led by God, but he also had a lot opinons. |

Agreed we have been over this alot alot and alot more times I wish we could make it a sticky so many won't pop up but I guess like with any other subject we have to go over it to make sure the important thing out of this is that people understand it. I will I could go back to the last one I loved the way someone worded people write it's clear but honestly it is clear our thoughts are not Gods thoughts, the way we interept things isn't the same way he interpets them, sometimes it's the complete opposite and it will not return unto him void. I can't remember the way the person worded it but I do know women are allowed to teach and women are allowed to preach my co-pastor is a woman and rememnber God is no respect of a person. So with that being said wouldn't that go against each other which it isn't suppose to go against each other umm... something to think about.
