There are two sides to the issue. First you have Archdeacon William Paley's who argues that the universe had to have a Designer. Then you have Charles Darwin, who spent most of his life trying to prove Paley wrong.

Oddly enough Darwin kept his discovery secret for a very long time before making it official as he knew he would be heavily attacked by the church...

He was also a christian and had other people handling the debate as his skills lay in biology not agitation.

First of all, Darwin never said much about the universe or its origins.
Second of all, he saw the hand of God in the creative process of evolution.

Can you give us any source that shows Darwins views on the creation of the universe? Can you show us any source that shows that Darwin did not believe that creation was from God?

He did have some problems with the Bible and the Christian church, but he never indicated that he did not believe in a "designer" for the universe and the laws that affected what he was studying. He simply showed with his theories that a designer was not necessary at every step of the way molding every animal we see.

Darwin was never a christian and never claimed to be. He did go to one of the best christian schools, and he did have some of the best christian teachers available. That is why he was so effective and knew exactly what he was coming out against.

Darwin took truth and twisted it into a lie. A common methoid of satan, you see it from the beginning. The Bible exposes satan and all of his attempts at deception.

That is why Darwin has been proven to be false and the people he argued against have been proven to be true. So followers of Darwin have had to replace Darwin's "theory" with a modern post Darwinism or Neo-Darwinism.

John, do you actually know what Darwin proposed? Have you actually read Origin?

Instead of paying me $25, how about paying Amazon $24.50 for The Universe in a Nutshell by Stephen Hawking.

How many semesters of calculus do you have? You'll need it.

JohnR7, you appear to have some misconceptions about Charles Darwin. He did not do any work on the origin of the universe. His field was biology. And he did not twist facts into lies. I don't know what his personal religious beliefs were originally, but I know he was moving towards agnosticism later in life. An Englishman of his class would have been brought up in the Church of England but I don't know how committed he was to it in adulthood.

I have not read that much of it, why would I need to? There is enough Neo-Darwinism splattered all over the place that I would not have to go back to the origional source.

Sooner or later the truth and the error are going to have to be seperated out.

I dunno. Maybe to lend credibility to your position? Maybe, so when you make statements like, "Darwin has been proven to be false", you won't sound quite so much like you're spouting off empty, meaningless rhetoric?

Darwin was never a christian and never claimed to be.

Darwin was a Christian until he was forty. He began to doubt the literal translation of Genesis as the literal word of God and later doubted the Gospels.

He doubted the bible and Christianity but never doubted that a creator was responsible for what we see in nature. If you would actually read Origin and his other works, you would find many references to the creator.

He would probably be best categorized in his later years as an agnostic or a deist, but he was never an atheist. He started out as a Christian and his examination of the Creation stories and the gospels led him away from a literal translation of the bible and caused him to doubt that Jesus was the son of God (but he never stated that he did not believe a God existed).

I always makes me shake my head in wonder when a person cannot see the magesty of God in the complexity of His work and feels, pridefully, that if he cannot understand it it cannot be. I also smell the taint of money.

Be very watchful of those that make money on these teachings.
