Reps: 13 (power: 0) | | | About This Forum I John 1:3: "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ."
Truly our purpose in this forum should be to have that deeper fellowship with our God, and a closer walk with our Saviour. When we do that, we will be better able to go out and to declare those things we have seen and heard and learned to those who are lost and without hope: That we may lead them to a saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, in order to bring them to have fellowship with us.
This forum is an awesome opportunity to share and pray together and really Study in depth God's written Word to us. There have been several who have requested a thread devoted to Bible Study. Well here we have a whole forum. I think we need to get together and decide how to proceed in that direction.
I think it is important because, we are here on a trial basis and many object to this place even being here. Some have already suggested that there is no need for this place because the Devotionals Forum is already set up for this.
I suggest it is not. Obviously a deeper fellowship with God will entail a study of God's Word that goes beyond that of a devotional. There are several Pastors here, according to profiles, who should be willing to lead a Bible Study.
Perhaps there could be topical threads for study. Perhaps there could be threads on individual Book studies. Waterwizzard is a Pastor, I understand and Dave at least preaches some. Whether he is a Pastor or not, I do not know.
Perhaps others could lead us in studies on prayer. We have a moderator here, but perhaps we also need a leader of this forum. One who can set us a sort of informal agenda to follow. In which case I would certainly nominate GraftMeIn, because without her we would not even have this place.
To paraphrase Lyndon Johnson, I do not seek such a position nor would I accept it if offered. But I do sense a need for it, if we are to keep this forum here permanently.
What do you think?

Right behind you on this one Gerry - breaking the Bread of God's Word together; feeding and rebuilding each other, in our respective ministries as part of His Risen Body.

Reps: 8,131 (power: 23) | | I have to admit the first time this new forum came on i was more concerned about it cluttering the forums. But I've been taking some close looks on the forum and heck it's great!
I also nominate graftmein for this position.

Yeah! Loving one another, bearing one anothers burdens, teaching, sharing, encouraging, building up and praying for one another. Thaat's what it is all about!

Reps: 42 (power: 0) | | Wow thanks everyone, I'm not sure what to say right now other than I woud not have requested this forum if God had not placed it on my heart to do so. So let us make Him our leader and guide.
I'm a little short on time at the moment, but will come back this afternoon some time, and see if we can gather some sort of informal agenda and discuss together what this forum is all about Although I think the posts Gerry made on fellowship are a great start on that already.
Thanks again, and may God keep his blessings on all of you, as well as this forum.

If tomorrow, you should find that I'm gone.
Sing praises to Jesus! I'll be with him, where I belong.

Reps: 42 (power: 0) | | | I think Auswig, and Gerry both have already pretty much stated some of what this forum is about already in this thread.
I love the devotional section of these forums and will still continue posting things there. but most of what seems to go there seems to be less open to conversation in a way. I feel that there may be some out there that feel they need to be a writer, or have some exceptional testimony in order to post there. Here everyone should be able to feel able to share more freely with others and be able to take part in the conversations we have.
This new forum is a place where we can commune more closely with one another and help each other draw closer to God and stay focused on Him and what He has to offer. Without it coming under heavy debate by others, and without it becoming quickly burried by those things that have nothing to do with God.

Reps: 13 (power: 0) | | | Great! Because I am one who is not in for debate about God's Word. I realize that there are many denominations here and that people hold varying views on specific doctrines, but that does not mean that we cannot study what God has to say about those things and if we must disagree we can do it in an agreeable manner. I think one apologetics forum is enough and there is no need to turn this one into another one. If there is a need for two apologetics forums I am sure Erwin will be happy to open another one!
I don't see this place as being one for vegetarians. I am looking forward to getting into the meat of the Word!

Well, theres no denominations in Heaven, so we'll have foretaste of that here in the meantime.
