Mark brings his experimental squid curry stir-fry!
We took my daughter, my son, his wife and their two sons out to dinner last week (my son and d-i-l's birthdays are 1 day apart). My husband ordered an appetizer of calimari for everyone to share. My youngest grandson, Logan (2 years), will eat just about anything - if there's food around, he thinks it's his. So, he took some calimari and marinara dipping sauce. He very carefully ate all the breading - tried the actual squid meat - and promptly spit everything out I guess it didn't overly impress him.

Show me a man who trusts his own righteousness, obedience, devotion, feelings, or anything else of his own, and I will show you a man to whom the blood and righteousness of Christ is worthless. Don Fortner
It often surprises people to learn that God is not always pleased when people worship him. We might be inclined to think that God should be thankful for any attention we give him out of our busy schedules. But worship is not about God's thanking us; it is about our thanking him. And God is not pleased with just anything we choose to do in his presence. The mighty Lord of heaven and earth demands that our worship-indeed, all of life-be governed by his word.
John M. Frame
The Bible will give Christ to you in an intimacy so close that he would be less visible to you if he stood before your eyes.

As I set my epi-pen in plain view and sit next to someone who knows the signs, I cautiously approach the salads and skip the dessert table all together. However I will have a generous helping of the sweet and sour meatballs with steamed rice that I bring. And of course grapes, pineapple and melon from the fruit platter I bring.
For my granddaughter, we have brought alternative food and a little extra for anyone brave enough to try it. No one ever is though.
i like potlucks but i usually don't have enough advance notice to bring anything. i work every other weekend so sometimes i would come to church and SURPRISE! it was potluck Sunday. but as the size of our congregation is beginning to get smaller...no potlucks now. ~pout~

Thanksgiving Dinner (could be afternoon or evening)
Christmas Dinner and play or music or talent
We have managed to convince everyone that tree nuts are deadly to me. We are getting there with convincing them to avoid fresh strawberries for my granddaughter. If we went to a larger church I would not even try. We would not attend potlucks at all.

3rd Sunday of every month at church, at least one "spur of the moment" cookout/pot luck in between. Oh, and special occasion pot-lucks (someone's moving, someone's engaged - that sort of thing). And our congregation is only ~50 people.
