It seems to me that if there is going to be a petition against promoting the gay lifestyle there should be a petition against promoting "safe sex" in the education system. That's all I was saying.
Your post was well written and I agree with everything you said, sex outside of marriage is wrong, homosexuality is wrong, however it's not fair to ignore one issue and continually harp on the other as this petition appears to be doing

Homosexuality is immoral. Yes. But we must still love homosexuals as Jesus loved prostitutes and tax-collectors even though their actions were immoral as well.
We must separate our distaste/hatred for the sin from our love for the individual human being. Even though he or she is a sinner. So far I don't think we've done a very good job at that.

The problem is that we Christians have become heartless judges, abandoned our love and our compassion. Many Christians even fight for the rich, not the poor. Greed is a common sin among Christians. Selfishness and pride are also common. Yet we as a group often focus more on yelling out against homosexuality - or even homosexuals - than we do on trying to live like Christ.

For me, this is a great source of grief.

Whatever "contributions" individuals make, should not be accounted to them as a result of their sexual desires. One has nothing to do with the other. What God says is moral or immoral is the only opinion that matters. In the end we will either be found friends or enemies of God's. And since He is holding all of the cards, (or books) and will deliver the final judgment to us all, regardless of what the world has "ok'd", it would be wise to find ourselves in His side of the matter and teach our children to do the same lest they perish with the rest of the world.

Do you think discrimination based on race to be a morally good thing to teach our children?
What about telling our children that discriminating against non-Christians is morally OK?
I eagerly await your answers to these questions.

I also quoted your OP here:
“The Association... believes in the importance of observances, programs and curricula that accurately portray and recognize the roles, contributions, cultures, and history of these diverse groups and individuals.”
And asked you if you support lying about homosexuals….again you declined to answer but the question remains. The NEA is saying that it is important to accurately portray gays and lesbians. You (through the American Fmaily Association) is saying thath this is bad…why is it bad? And because you (and the AFA) for some reason find this objectionable is inaccurate portrayal (lying) about homosexuals acceptable to you?

Will you be so kind as to answer these questions?

Is it not important to distinguish between hating the sin and hating the sinner?

So when in the very same book it talks about men lying with men, that law is moot too?
