Creation & EvolutionForum for the discussion of this important topic. This forum is open to non-believers. There is a Christians-only forum in the Christians-only section too.
I accept the evidence that there was death long before God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden. There is no reason for me not to accept the evidence. Adam was given a choice, he could eat from the tree of life or he could eat from the tree of death. It was up to Adam if he wanted to live or die. We all have that same choice today. It is your choice if you want to live or die.
If you do not want me to talk about bacteria that is fine. I will talk about what I do know and what I am a expert on. What I know about bacteria I learned from my mom who had a degree in bacteriology or my dad that was a medical doctor. But we all know how stupid medical doctors are, so I could not have learned anything about the subject from him. Also, my mom must not have known anything about it, because she only had a four year degree, so how could she have learned anything in so short of a period of time.

Don't be facetious John. Sometimes the apple falls well away from the tree.
Also, give that you list your age as 54 I'm guessing that both your parents got their degrees at least half a century ago.
So do I choose to trust second hand opinion from somebody who has displayed clear ignorance on the topic? Ooooh, it's a hard one...

"Yes, the long war on Christianity. I pray that one day we may live in an America where Christians can worship freely! In broad daylight! Openly wearing the symbols of their religion…. perhaps around their necks? And maybe — dare I dream it? — maybe one day there can be an openly Christian President. Or, perhaps, 43 of them. Consecutively." - Jon Stewart

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Why should "I choose to trust second hand opinion from somebody who has displayed clear ignorance" on the Bible and have demonstrated that they know very little about it.

We're not talking about the Bible. We're talking about microbes. Goodness sake John.
P.S. Where have I displayed clear ignorance on the Bible? As a Catholic for over 15 years and a Christian for a total of 17 years, I want you to display to me that I have done what you claim. Otherwise you are, yet again, making snide unfounded personal remarks that don't belittle your target. They belittle you.

The fact from the Bible is that after the FALL of ADAM, Satan had full reign of most everything with few exceptions. It must be understood that plants, insects and animals; while all existing for the glory of GOD, also each had their function to perform. The reality is that a virus is hardly a living soul, as is true of bacteria. They had a job to perform. Grass at the time of creation was likely very different from the grass we have now. Walking for Adam may have been more like gliding. I don't imagine that heaven will be a place where grass is crushed under the feet of saints. What ALL Christians need to get through their heads is that what we NOW see is nothing like what Adam saw, heard, or felt ORIGINALLY. It is very easy for some to simply assume that what we experience now is what has always been and what heaven will be like with a few minor alterations. I have the distint feeling, and the Bible does seem to present a different picture, that heaven will not be a place where people will be strumming harps or playing cards all day-----if at all. Heaven will be a truly wonderous place and the New Heavens and the New Earth will be beyond what we ever imagined -------- but perhaps not so very different from what Adam & Eve originally witnessed before they sinned......

As usual, you provide a lot of unintended humor and dodge the question all at the same time.

That is fine, let people who have studied microbes teach on microbes and let people who have studied the Bible teach on the Bible. The main thing is to keep the Godless atheists and their teaching out of our schools and keep them away from our kids.
Do you believe in angels? The Bible says that man was originally created just alittle lower then them. So it comes down to a simple rational. You either believe in GOD and all the possibilities that goes with such, or you believe only what you presently see and this is it. I feel that the last laugh may just be a your expense.
