Reps: 118 (power: 0) | | Currently I am teaching two and three year olds at church. They are a hard group to teach because you never know if they are getting what you are saying or not.
But last Sunday, I really feel like I connected with them. We were talking about Paul on the road to Damascus and how God used someone who was a bad person to help him achieve something so great. We were talking about ways that we could be instruments for God and one little girl asked me "Where's my instrument? I want one." I told her that she already had one, that her instrument was in her heart. And whenever she cleaned up her toys or made mommy happy, she was using her instrument. All the kids really liked that idea. (All 2 years old mind you)
That was the first time I had no trouble getting them to clean up the toys at the end of class. I told them to use their heart instruments and they cleaned up very nicely.
God does come through, it just takes patience and a little time.

There are two ways to look at life. One as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.

Reps: 178 (power: 0) | | | I work with 4th and 5th grades combined. That's a good age since they can start getting their brins around more abstract issues. I have found one thing though that seems to work with them and younger kids. I always try to relate the lesson to them and how they feel about things. I ask them what they would do in a given situation, how they would react. Put on a personal level like that the lesson becomes something they can relate to.
