| tell me, have you seen him as i sat waiting for my heart to calm down, a song from the seventies whispered through my soul, with just a slight change of the last word, the song goes "tell me have you seen her" the change is "tell me have you seen Him"." the other day i was reading a book by that learned scholar of the word & of the fathers heart, mr. d. martin-loyd jones in which he stated "if your knowledge of the scriptures & of the doctrines of the gospel of the lord Jesus Christ has not brought you to this knowledge of the love of Christ, you should be profoundly dissatisfied & disturbed. all biblical doctrine is about this blessed Person; & there is no greater snare in the christian life than to forget the Person Himself & to live simply on truths concerning Him." "d. martin-loyd jones" "the unsearchable riches of Christ"pg.#208 now, what had my heart stirred up, i was watching the new d.v.d. "chronicles of narnia", & all over the film, the heartbeat of our tender father, & the footsteps of our gentle saviour could be seen & felt in my heart. my heart had so enlarged, had so engulfed me, as the great, unending, unrestricted, passionate love of the father so overtook me. my inner man was so "strangely warmed," as bro. Wesley once stated, that my heart wept with love covering my life, pure, gentle love. so sweet & tender that in my spirit i laid myself prostrate before him in unabashed love, as his agape washed over me, oh sweet father of tender mercies, how we thank you ever so much for your beloved son, King Jesus. folks, bare with me a moment, i am as "word of faith" as any. my hearts one sole desire is to bring the fathers word & his gentle love to my brothers & sisters as my father in the faith did, that dear kind man, bro. e.w. kenyon. my desire is to know the word as he, to walk in the footsteps of "faith" as he,to stir the hearts of the captives, & to excite the fellow citizens of the faith, as the "word of faith" is taught. my library is full of bro. kenyons mentors books & articles, all the pioneers of the "command of faith" & the "faith of the spoken word", are my companions, as i walk with them through the pages of their hearts as i read after them. i sit in my heart at the great "keswick meetings" as the forerunners of the "word of faith" stand boldly under the fathers anointing. releasing into the earth faith filled words, that carry & release the presence of the father, this being the birthing place, if you will of what we know as the "word of faith " movement. but, there is one thing that i have been observing, more than ever, that breaks my heart, i believe the fathers also, & for that i refer back to the statement penned by mr. jones, that of forgetting the gentle saviour himself, King Jesus. as one walks through the pages of time with bro. kenyon, d.l. moody, a,b. simpson,s.d. gordon, a.j. gordon, jeesie penn-lewis, ethan o. allen , r kelsor carter, cornelia nuzman, phoebe palmer,a.t. pierson, charles s. price, george muller, f.b. meyer, charles spurgeon, f.f. bosworth, maria woodworth-etter, carrie judd montgomery, & the list goes on & on, one will see a "deep" longing ache of compassionate hunger for that gentle one, who has touched their weary & parched lives, brushing away with his tender touch their empty darkness, & this longing love, i feel, has somewhat been lost re-read bro. kenyons books, can you not feel the burning passion he has for his gentle master, the softness of his heart, the gentleness of his life, can only come from one who has a love affair with the master. or that hot blooded, passionate man, paul, the father of the "faith" teaching for the church, see how as he gazes at the heart of the father through the sacrifice of his master, see him loose all composure in his epistles as he bursts forth in praises & enraptured moments as he is overtaken by the fathers love. stepping into the pages of time, from the bosom of the father, angels bow down in awe, hell trembles at the sound of his life, the father leans over the epochs of history, his heart exploding in joy & love, he turns to the holy spirit & nearly shouts, he has come , my son has gone forth to give up his life for the sons of adam, he is my all , he is my heart, all that I AM, my love has leapt forth from my heart & been manifested in my eternal son, my heart, love, my life, shall be poured out, as my son pours out all of his life, for those who i so long to fellowship with, my dear children. we know the word says that "god is love", so we see not just a man, not just the father, not just "a god" crucified upon that lonely hill, but we see "love" who is God, slain in our place, because, "he so loved us". so, i say, yes, we must speak the "command of faith"lays hands on the sick, bring back to the church the message of "faith" that the early forerunners above mentioned proclaimed, but let us also once again bring this same passion for the one who brings such tender love to our hearts, as a cool gentle breeze upon a young child's face. the word says , that all of the promises of god are yes & amen, but where are they found, the word says "IN HIM" they are yes & amen, for after all he is the son of the fathers heart, the father called him 'my beloved.' IN HIM ewkenyon2 your friend ,scott |
