I get sad, hurt, and angry at the lack of support and comfort those suffering from a mental illness receive from the Christian community. I have had depression/anxiety since I was 13 and was hospitalized at 20 due to severe depression. I am 24 now and my doc suggested that I may have bipolar II even though I never have been hypomanic/manic. It is hard processing all of this alone when you have to deal with that awful stigma. It is so lonely. It would be nice to have someone that cared instead of looking down on me.
this is a great forum for getting a chance to talk to others who have had experience like yours. I too have been diagnosed with the same disorder and God loves you enough to get you on the track of getting help so you can live a long healthy life. The world can be really cold to all people and we all have different battles we face daily but the good thing is that we have God to turn to with all our worries and fears.
Hang in there

Amazing how such a wonderful God loves us so much that he sacrificed his only son Jesus on the cross for our sins.
The group in this forum here welcomed me with open arms and hearts. They will do the same with you. The stigma is awful, but remember that through Christ, we can remain strong in anything. That doesn't mean we will never hurt or have problems, but we can make it through, with God and with each other.
You have come to our home forum where folks suffer the same disease that you do.
There are many loving folks here that will welcome you in and try their level best to give you advice that will help make your life better.
We are by no means perfect and we have limitations on the help we can give, BUT we know where to send you.
You can't change folks ideas about us crazy folks so recognize that and lets get on with living.
You might be selective on who you tell about your disease just because of their ignorance.
I want you to know you have just cut me to my heart and I'm bleedin bad. Please go get me a tourniquet to stop this bleeding. Because I am a CHRISTIAN in this community and ask GOD to loose my hands that I give what it is HE wants you to receive. Don't worry dear cause GOD will stop my bleedin. ( hillbilly )
I look forward to your posts but I sure hope they won't cut me every time.
TOGETHER WE STAND UNDER THE LOVE OF JESUS!!
LIFE GETS SO MUCH BETTER WHEN WE REMEMBER:
XEven though you can't see Him, GOD is there!O ( click on the X and move to the O ) ( then feel who is around you )

No matter you are a Christian or not, we love you. Please don’t be afraid to uncover your weakness here; we all have own weakness that we have to deal with all kinds of problems hardly. But Really Christ Jesus is the resource of healing in my experience, which touches my soul with the most gentle Heart.
Sincerely, Yusuph

Thanks for your support. I am doing better today.
I have a question that you may be able to answer. I don't know if I have bipolar because I have never been manic and I am now trying to process and heal from a traumatic past. I lost 4 close family members from ages 14-16 and was raised in an almost cult-like oppressive religion that didn't allow expression of negative feelings. Could my mood swings be just from trying to heal from my past or should mood stabilizers take care of those? Have any of you experienced traumatic childhoods? Could that cause Bipolar?
Thanks.
Maybe only yourself can understand the traumatic past you experienced. All we can do is just to comfort you. To forget the unfortunate past and look forward the beautiful future is the healing to all members here. I know in some cases a patient of Bipolar can only have symptoms of depression or mania. You can ask for your mental doctors to know your case surely. And no matter how the department of religion treats you, the Word of Lord sure can help you. This is a link of the favorite Scriptures of members here. http://www.christianforums.com/t2701313-helpful-bible-verses.html
Love, Yusuph
