Beyond reasonable doubt as defined by a jury of peers is good enough to do what is necessary for public safety. But, if you want to torture/execute him, you need proof. Do you have that? |

Expecting Anesthesiologists to assist with an execution is absolutely absurd. Just give the criminal a load of Sodium Thiopental and then let the execution begin. End of story. Criminals on death row needn't be very "comfortable" throughout the so-called procedure.
If I were one of those Anesthesiologists I would have never let myself walk in. Good choice they made... Killing is not within the realm of medicine. |

Right. Bring back the axe!
Although rapists should get the iron maiden. Iron maidens also have the advantage of doubling as coffins. And it would put them in an interesting position come the Ressurection. |

The basic definition of murder is to take one's life against the will of said person. Therefore, it would require an absurd word game to say the DP is not murder. |

The real question shold be "why do they need to anestetize people who are going to be executed?"
If its as the article says and it will casue excrutiating pain without sedation (although I'm curious as to what they consider "excruciating pain" to be) why do they lethally inject people? Why not bring back the guillotine? You don't need anesthesiologists for that. Or the gallows.
I always thought lethal injection was used for its painlessness, I didn't realize it almost purely out of squeamishness.
Thats a rather lame execution, a death less painful then the majority of men will experience (heart attack). Does show the doctors could participate though.
Probably something to do with cruel and unusual punishment.
