I always find it so hard to believe how christian conservatives are always so eager to kill! I find it impossible to believe Jesus Christ would be 'pro-war' or would applaud the recent airstrike that not only failed to kill its intended target but succeeded in killing many innocents. Killing innocent woman and children, although an all too often result of military action does not have to happen. Thats why the military does collateral damage assessments. Thats why we have a Geneva Convention and the Laws of Armed Combat, to minimize the effects on civilian populations.
IMHO, the religious right conveniently forgets the words of Christ when it comes to love, peace, and understanding. Opting instead to cherry-pick verses from the OT to support their narrow interpretation of scripture. This absolutists philosophy that says 'your not really a christian if you dont believe exactly as I do' bears striking resemblance to the philosophy of the taliban, the mullahs of Iran and the 'virtue police' in Saudi Arabia.
Whoa, I gotta stop you there. I'm a conservative Christian, and I'm not eager to kill. I don't support the death penalty, and I don't approve of abortion either. I abhor civilian deaths, and mourn when there are civilian casualties as the result of a military strike. I have respect for the enemy that is killed in combat, but not remorse. They were doing their jobs, as were we.
Yes, many democrats voted for the war, but they are the ones admitting it was a mistake.
Not really. Democrats have no other issue to run on and the far left wing of the party demands a fake pacifism (fake because that faction--A.N.S.W.E.R., Code Pink, Michael Moore, Ed Asnew, Barbara Lee, John Conyers, Phil Donahue, George Miller, Jim McDermott--admires brutal regimes so long as they are socialist).
There is also the question of $$$ driving the so-called "peace" movement. From the Church hearings to Jamie Gorelick's "Wall" and the current opposition to the Patriot Act, the far left has tried to stop U.S. Intel from sharing information (i.e. money trails) with the FBI and IRS.

Yes, many democrats voted for the war, but they are the ones admitting it was a mistake. There are only a handful of republicans who admit the same. It wasn't the democrats who manipulated intelligence and public opinion to justify and unjustifiable invasion. It wasn't the democrats who decided not to supply the troops with armor, which could have prevented 80% of the casualties. No democrat, not even Ben Nelson of Nebraska, the most conservative one, sought to justify torture.
Response
I appreciate you stating that democrats do make mistakes. Should we have people in power who fail to investigate before they commit? The Bible says count the cost before you start something. Luke 14:28 states, "For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and countheth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?"
The concept of WMD was started under the Clinton Administration and carried forward to the Bush Administration. The attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq were totally justified because Islamic terrorist killed 3000 American on 9/11. The problem was and is much larger than just Bin Laden. The problem will not be resolved until Syria and Iran are take care of.
Could you provide a source for the claim that 80% of the casualties could have been prevented with armor?
Is it possible to wage war while being encased in a block of steel? Are you advocating a nuclear strike instead of a ground war?
I don't know about you, but if my son was being held captive, I would use what ever means necessary to retrieve information from someone that I thought had information, in order to obtain release of my son.
Democrats want to go to war, but apparently do not want to admit what war is. If we do not want to accept what war is, we should not go to war, but rather surrender to the enemy.

What progress will we have made?
This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time – to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth – that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:
Yes We Can. "

Ok, first let me say how Christian of you! How christian of you to condemn another person to hell for their political beliefs. You and your radical religious right friends are the reason I will never vote for a republican.
The reps solve the problems the dems start. What? Kinda like how Bill Clinton inherited huge deficits, but left office with record surpluses? And now we have record national debt again. What happened to the republican principal of fiscal responsibility? I guess that went out the window with ethical and responsible government (Jack Abramoff, Tom Delay, Duke Cunnigham etc).

I have no power to condemn anyone to hell, except myself, however I do have a right to an opinion, which I expressed.
The Clinton Administration was totally plagued by unethical and irresponsible government practices which lead ultimately to the finger waving statement by Clinton, "I did not have sex with that woman." The Kennedy Administration, the Johnson Administration and the Carter Administrations had significant ethical problems. I believe an honest comparison would show the Republicans are best able to lead America. With Republicans in charge the democrats and liberal news media can keep the Republican honest. With democrats in charge the news media covers up all they can or minimizes the story.
Killing is what an individual does without authorization of the congregation as stated in the Old Testament and not changed in the New Testament. Execution is what is done by a jury and by soldiers when authorized by the congregation. A jury represents the congregation in America, and the Iraq war was authorized by the congress. Walter Cornkite was not authorized by the congregation and it will be God that has to deal with him.
The concept that "Killing innocent woman and children, although an all too often result of military action does not have to happen" is wishful thinking. See my response to quantumspirit.
The democrats could not prevent killing of innocent woman and children. I remember the Bosonian police action in the Clinton administration where a tractor convoy of people was attacked because it was thought to be a tank convoy. The liberal news media did not make a big issue of the killing of innocent woman and children, in accordance with the following propaganda policy position:
The Atheistic liberal news media greatly influences both domestic and foreign policy by constantly reporting only bad news about Christians, conservatives and Republicans and only good news about atheists, liberals and democrats. The agenda of the Atheistic liberal news media is to promote socialism, feminism, pornography, abortion, homosexuality and the Atheistic lifestyle by getting democrats back in control of government.

Sounds like you're saying that all Democrats are, by definition, atheists.

Well, THANK GOD for honest leaders like Nixon and Reagan!

Afterwards, I plan to get together with a bunch of other Democrats and plot the overthrow of the free enterprise system and how to hand over the country to Al-Queda (since anyone who doesn't support the President is against him, supports the terrorists, hates freedom and hates America).
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to plan a counter-revolution.
Clirus, the Republicans are spending us into oblivion and the 'war' in Iraq has been over for awhile. What we have in Iraq now is American soldiers acting as police and getting killed and maimed for it. While I agreed with the objective of the war we are currently wasting lives in Iraq. Ask yourself this Clirus, if President Bush's and VP Cheney's daughters were there on the ground in uniform manning check points, how long do you think it would take to wrap this occupation up?
