Alright... When we come in here to look at and read this thread, we will think about those friends and family that we know who aren't saved. The people that you've been praying about, hoping and having faith that they will come to God.
Everytime you look at this thread, pray for those people you're thinking about, and the other people that people here are wanting and praying for to get born again. Which, when you think about it, is a LOT of people!!
Pray for these friends and family of ours to get born again... To have an encounter with God in a big way. To see the light and to change the way they think. For God to touch them in a way that they will know that it's Him and only Him. That the fire of God would consume them and remove everything that isn't Jesus inside of them.
We could start a revival! Who's in?!
FireofGod, I agree with you in principle. I think what you're saying is a great sentiment and I hope a lot of people catch on to it.
I don't want to throw on your fire because I believe that a passion for the lost, such as you're showing here, is a gift from God.
*BUT*
I think you're putting the cart before the horse.
Revival isn't about people getting saved. Biblical revival is about God's people repenting of their sins, getting serious about living a holy, God honoring lifestyle, and drawing closer to Him, taking His word seriously.
Every great revival in history and in scripture has come only after a long period of prayer and repentance. When these things happen, the Holy Spirit revitalizes the church and the body of believers and, invariably, this fire spreads to the lost.
Like I said, I think what you said is wonderful. Now, let's make your hopes a reality by praying, repenting, and asking God to start revival in our churches and in our own hearts.
Do that and Christ will be lifted up. And what did Jesus say He would do when we lift Him up?
He said He would draw all men to Him.
Now, let each of us say, "Lord, send revival and let it begin with me!"
Jesus said GO INTO ALL THE WORLD AND MAKE DISCIPLES.
Not go into all your heart and make a fuss and a hoohah.
Just live right, confess any sin and do the works.
You don't see the book of ACTS Christians sitting around introspective, they are out there healing the sick, planting churches, arguing their case seeking to persuade men.
How do you know that FireOfGod hasn't already done that?
I would imagine she has.
Cheers,
Z
Where did I say that she hasn't? I don't know if you bothered to read my post or not, but I was agreeing with her.
Honestly, this is like the person in another thread who told me I was attacking Catholicism because I said I believed that Catholics hold to orthodoxy.
You told her to ask God to start a revival in her heart.
I am sorry I interpreted that to mean that she did not have revival in her heart, but that is the logical conclusion of that comment in my mind.
I don't see how you came to that conclusion.
Let's recap, shall we?
Revival isn't about people getting saved. Biblical revival is about God's people repenting of our sins, getting serious about living a holy, God honoring lifestyle, and drawing closer to Him, taking His word seriously.
As you can see, I did not say anything about her not having revival in her heart, but made it clear that this is something that each of us and all of us together, need to address and that revival starts in our hearts, not that anyone does not have revival.
Revival isn't about people getting saved. Biblical revival is about God's people repenting of their sins, getting serious about living a holy, God honoring lifestyle, and drawing closer to Him, taking His word seriously.
That is exactly what we are going to be, and hopefully are, praying for all of these people. For all of these people that we love and are thinking about to have revival in their lives. And that it will spread.

I've been praying for a long time and will continue to do so. But does revival have to come only after long periods of prayer and repentance? Does that just happen because that's the way people have believed it to happen?
Oh, and, there's not way you could ever put out this fire.
