Here on the fourms we talk alot about the Spirit, the New you. But I want to talk about the soul..and what all it's comprised of. I know it's comprised of feelings and emotions and awareness, experiances of things around you. Paul said that we might be made perfect in ever aspect of our makeup.. spirit, soul, and body. And that we believe to the saving of the soul.
The reason I'm getting into this might be for personal experiances I have been having for at least 3 or 4 months now.
Especially in soulical dreaming. I know that I'm a new creature in my spirit man, and all things are new, but a few months ago, I prayed to the Lord to cleanse my soul. Why I prayed this I don't really know. Right after this I started dreaming soulical dreams. I dream of things that happened in my life that hurt deeply, that I never think about during my waking hours. Those experiances I thought had long gone, because I'm not aware of them anymore after Christ came into my life. I'll dream it, and and mourn with tears washing down my face in this dream. I honestly feel like I am in mourning. Then the mouring is over and it stops, in my dream I feel refreshed..when I wake up, I feel a little guilty for having the dream, but still feel like something has been lifted.
I didn't mean to make this a physiological study of the human makeup, But has anyone else ever prayed for the Lord to cleanse their soul, and experianced this? I have had 5 dreams so far, that has really happened in my life, a couple that I truly could not remember in my conscious state. One was when I said some very unkind words to a girl friend of mine when we were teenagers. But did remember after the dreaming. I got to appologize to her in my dream.
Is this God cleaseing the soul? And do you feel this is the way God would do it, by dreaming them, mouring over it, and feeling cleansed. I know that all things are new, but it was me that asked to be cleansed. I don't even know why I asked God to do this, since nothing was bothering me in my conscious state. I just wonder, we hear alot of trouble people have in the flesh, but can there be a troubling that your not aware of, in the soul?

I know what you are saying, and I pray that the Lord cleanse my soul (mind, will & emotions) often. I think out of our triuneness (spirit, soul & body) the soul is the intermediary between our spirit and our body.
I have studied the 'soul' for a long time and, in fact, started writing a book about the soul (based on 3 John 2). It is about 1/2-way completed.
If God has it in the bible that He wants our souls to prosper, then I would imagine He would be pleased if we asked Him to cleanse our souls.

Well I did say that I would go through my brain cells and see what I could come up with..LOL. Anything that you can add, (and I know that you can), even if it gets deep is appreciated.

I think that what is in the soul reflects in the body/flesh.
For e.g. when you are happy, your face/flesh will automatically be smiley.
But sometimes when our ‘self-defense’ in our mind don’t want to acknowledge and show those emotions, it goes deep into our souls, and if not deal with, it can be a stronghold in the soul.
For that reason, I think God reveals us things that we are not even conscious that we are holding that negative feelings etc... in dreams, prophecies, etc...
I had some ‘revelation’ dreams too...
But when we have those revelations are we not suppose to pray about it?

I wasn't aware that your writing a book about it..Let me know when it comes out. I was just interested in this topic, not so people will start condemning themselves over past things, but it seems like we neglect the soul part of us.

It's been hard finishing the book because I feel I am so lacking in so many of the answers
But I truly believe in total "soul prosperity".....and am sure, with God's help, I will experience it in full someday soon (before heaven )...

Sounds as tho Papa God is doing a good job cleaning out the cobwebs in your past! And it is a good thing, as our soul is what can be the cause of alot of disease in peoples bodys. The doctors & some ministers have proven that almost all disease has its roots in some form of spiritual/emotional disconnection!
Like an auto-immune disease, such as psorisis is at base caused by a feeling of self-loathing, or self-hatred. If people believe wrongly about themselves, their wonderful bodies created by God to live forever (originally!), go into their method of self-defense! In other words, peoples bodies end up in a state of civil war.
So, soulish cleansing is a good thing! Just remember, you can't do it, only Christ can! By His gift of grace to us! If we speak about ourselves as God sees us, and not as the devil wants us to see ourselves, it will eventually manifest in our lives! We are the righteousness of God, in Christ! We are free from condemnation! As Christ is so are we in this world NOW! Not gonna be, but NOW! Think about just what exactly Christ is right now.......God says we are that as well, right NOW!
