there are loads of them. far too many in fact for a young earth. particularly the big ones. search for threads started by mistermystery, he went into some of this in painful detail.

Should now. For whatever reason, Firefox and copy/paste don't go well together, I actually had to load up IE for it to work properly. |

Reps: 2,701 (power: 9) | | | In accordance to those links I'd just like to say that it is very easy to confuse someone who doesn't know the world of science to the extent that you do. You may want to try posing your arguments to Christians in terms that we can understand ... Your obviously more versed in the world of science than most of us.
I know for me I have an open mind but if you throw a bunch of data at me that only means something to other evolutionary thinkers I'm not going to be able to grasp your point and therefore your information is foreign to me.
If you are trying to make a point to the majority of Christians you may want to use language that is compelling to us so that we can see your point clearly. |

well we like to not make the assumption that Christianity is a synonym for uneducated or stupid, because it isn't I know for me I have an open mind but if you throw a bunch of data at me that only means something to other evolutionary thinkers I'm not going to be able to grasp your point and therefore your information is foreign to me.
well I don't see the problem with the threads to be honest. they aren't that complicated. If you are trying to make a point to the majority of Christians you may want to use language that is compelling to us so that we can see your point clearly.
Well I think it is worth you going over those posts and where you have a problem, come back to this thread and ask about it. But the short summary is this. When a meteor strikes the earth, it imparts energy, the sort of energy that destroys cars, large areas of countryside, and cities if they happen to be around, depending on the size of course now when we look at the various craters that are around, we see that there have been quite alot of large meteors hit the earth. If all of these meteors were to hit the earth within a couple of thousand years, the planet would have been constantly shrouded in a thick layer of dust, blocking out all light and freezing us to death, unless you were in the vincinity of one of the collisions, in which case you would have been blown apart. The nub of all this is, that if the earth is young, there are far too many meteor impacts for life to have survived.

Does anyone know how many have happened in the past 100 years or so? | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
