How do you know if you are called

into the healing ministry?
I think I maybe am, but how did you know?
One time that really sticks out in my mind was about 18 months ago. I used to get really severe headaches, they were the result of a neck injury. They were the kind that didn't go with normal painkillers and when I lay down, my pillow felt like a rock. Anyway, one night, I could feel a bad headach starting and there were no painkillers of any kind in the house. I prayed and asked Jesus to heal me, telling Him we had no tablets and He was my only hope. Well, immediately, what felt like the shape of a hand rested on my head, except it was like under my skull. I thought 'oh no, what's going to happen now!' (almost expecting a demonic attack) but the hand just rested there and I fell asleep and the headache just went.
A few weeks later a friend prayed over me, (not a healing prayer as they didn't know about my neck injury, in tongues) and God healed it too. None of those headaches since (just the normal stressed ones )
Last week I had a strained shoulder and a nurse friend advised me to go to he doc. I just asked Jesus to heal me and he did. He is the kindest and most amazing .. well, everything!

Ministry in the greek is defined as service so if God wants to bless you and use you as a channel for his power to heal others then you are called to a healing ministry, but that doesn't mean that you should rent a tent and become a full time healing evangelist. I believe all people of the body of Christ are called to move in the power [of God but it does not necessarily mean you have the gift to so. If you are really called then you will know that you know that you are called by God to do such. Any how praise God that he has been touching you with his healing power. Just pray hard and he will guide you.

I am a Pentellectual...what does that mean...I understand Biblical Greek, the Early Fathers, Philosophy and Theology, Pray in tongues more than most. I believe God does use people to heal the sick, believe God will use us to raise the dead, and advance the Gospel of the Kingdom with Signs and Wonders.

well, what I was actually hoping for was "I can discern from your post that God is calling you into the healing ministry". It was really a very silly question and I should know better. Sometimes when God seems to be doing a new thing in me I panic and look for confirmation everywhere instead of acting in faith. Just trying to avoid looking stupid if I pray for someone's healing and it doesn't happen.

Don't ever hesitate to pray for someone's healing and also understand that even people that are called to the healing ministry do not always have 100 percent success. Although I truly believe that we should it does not always mean that we are going to just because God has called us into that aspect of ministry. In our greatest faliures are birthed are greatest success. God mold's us in those times just look at John Wimber it took him seven months before he saw his real first healing and vineyard is known for those kind of things. Just food for thought. So my advice just keep praying and God will guide you.

I think in situations such as healings, we have to come to the place in life where we have learned in all things to listen to the voice of God.

So in your walk with God, listen to him. When he asks anything of you, do it. Just get in the habit of being obedient to him.

The disciples had to learn this. I personally like this example: Matthew 14:16-20

But Jesus replied, "That isnt necessary, you feed them."

"Impossible!" they exclaimed. "We have only five loaves of bread and two fish!"

"Bring them here," he said. Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. And he took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and asked God's blessing on the food. Breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave some of the bread and fish to each disciple, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and they picked up twelve baskets of leftovers.

So in fact the disciples did feed the people. It was passed from the masters plate/hand, to his disciples hands and they in turn passed it to the peoples.

And isnt that how the miracles are suppose to be working? We are asking for something from the masters hand, and in turn we are passing it to the people.

So as long as we are listening to the Master and do as he instructs us, we will see miracles such as these.


And it is for everything in life. The Lord will instruct us in many things. Just as he did with people like Abraham, who he led to his new home, and gave him a promised son. If we are willing to listen to the voice of God, amazing things will happen in our lives.

Thanks for sharing that. I feel that we're all going to be in a place of God doing miracles through us if we are careful to listen to Him. I'm at a place of not doing things that I don't hear, if you know what I mean. I do what I hear Him tell me to do, but trying not to think I am 'helping' God by pre-empting Him, or using my foolish wisdom to make judgements.

God bless you Vanilla 8. God really challenged me about healing lately. I grew up in a strict fundamentalist, cessationaist church which did not believe healing or any spiritual gift was for today. However God in the last 2 years showed me otherwise. I'm in a different church now but only some believe in spiritual gifts. I'm the only one practicing or even openly talking about them which can be frustrating. There are no pentecostal churches in my area. All the churches (of which there are 8 within about 2 miles) reject the practice of spiritual gifts today.

I would encourage you to pray for all the sick people you can. Mark 16:17,18 "They that believe" can be used in healing, not just those gifted to do so.

Aww, bless you, my heart goes out to you, it must be a very exasperating situation! Perhaps God is teaching you patience!
God will soon shake the sleeping church. You may be one of the few who can explain whats going on when healings and miracles break out.
I am so anxious for it to happen here too. Perhaps God is teaching me patience as well!

I do the same thing , always racing to people to affirm me when God affirms us definately I am going through the same thing you are Vanilla8 something I am not sure of and trying to find affirmation in other people ..."them saying, yes that is what God has blessed you with" but ya know When he gives us gifts to untilize in the Body of believers or just traveling and doing His work..HE's already affirmed you when He gave it to you...you're a daughter of the King, when your delighting yourself in his ways and His values, He rewards beautifully.

God gave me a dream recently, which answered my question. It was pretty symbolic but He also gave met the interpretation for it, so I'm happy! Anyway, He said I have the authority to heal, cast out and bless, which is really what He says to all of us who are saved. So it's a case now of just doing it and no more panic frenzys
I love the way God answers your questions in His own time, and not by the means you expect
