There they mention something about that the "big gun" issue is being jeopardized. My question as follow what is the big gun issue, i have tried to get information from google and the Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution).

The "big guns" are the theory of evolution and radiometric dating. What they are saying is that one or the other is wrong. Why? Because this crustacean is 400 million years old and "nearly identical" to a similar species today. Either things don't change or the crustacean is young.

However, they make a very simple mistake. Stasis is a real mechanism. If you are highly specialized to a specific environment, and that environment never changes, then there is no pressure to change.

the lil' critter is an ostracod. These are tiny members of the crustacea. They are mainly aquatic, and a majority of the species are marine. The largest is only 3 millimeters long, and IIRC is from the bottom of the Indian ocean, well over a mile deep. These habitats are every stable- cold, dark, very little nutrients, not much competition. (Would you want to live there)?

Evolutionary theory predicts species stability when the environment is stable, and species change when the environment changes. Now, this little critter is not the same species as any know living species (but I don't totally rule it out) and was from an environemnt that is still present and still occupied.

What I found most interesting was that in "only 200 million years" such an "advanced" lil' critter evolved.
