church question

Hi, we have been searching for a good church for a long time, and to make a long story short, after a few years I believe we've found one. Question: what if you like to sing and there is no music ministry available? This church has good community, good preaching and worship. It is not as contemporary as I would like, but in all other ways the fit feels right. What to do/suggest? I have done praise team, solo music, and choir. I'd love it even if choir was only at the holidays.

A lot of times when there is a missing element in the church we attend is because the person needed to start it is either not there or they are there but is being disobedient to God. I would seek God in prayer too see if you have been the missing link that the church needs for the music ministry. Seems like you have talents and gifts that God plans on using to bless your local church through you.

As people sometimes we forget that the church we go to is just a building, but the real church is us.

Agree

Once again, I agree with Diva.

Find out why they don't have a Music Ministry. There must be a reason.

I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason. You are there for a reason. Seek God and follow his lead!

Let us know what happens!

oreos is on a distinguished road
I agree with Diva too. In Corinthians, Paul speaks of the church as consisting of members with different gifts bestowed upon by God and that we should all work together as a body of Christians to edify one another's spiritual growth. It seems like you are the missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle.

As for contemporary music, I know of churches with multiple services, one of which caters to a crowd that prefers such a praise worship session.

Other than that, it's great to hear that you have found a church that seems like a perfect fit in every other regard.

they say....

they say you get drawn to the right church. the church you finally end up in may not necissarily be the one you started off with. i would suggest that you find a church that is PERFECT for YOU. you may find it difficult, or struggle in this church if you cant express yourself through singing, and i, personally, find it so much more fun!! but its your choice. i think stick with this church for a little while, and see what you think. if it is great in such a way it totally compensates for the no singing, then maybe stick it out. you could even suggest to the ministry that they should have music, or talk to one of the leaders there about your thought and feelings. dont hesitate, they are there to listen to questions, thoughts, comments and any issues aswell. see what happens, hope you find the right church for you!!!

Just make sure your not looking at church purely for what it can provide you with.
