The Passing of a Teacher

My daughter (who turned 19 last Saturday), Theresa, performed in a student production of "Grease" last summer, a project of the Fontana Performing Arts in conjunction with the Fontana (California) School District. At the end of the show, the producer announced his plans to take the performance to Australia this spring. Theresa was invited to be part of the cast. Everyone was super-excited for her and this wonderful, wonderful opportunity.

Last week, Theresa received word that the producer, Thomas Rutherford, had become gravely ill, and was hospitalized with leukemia. Mr. Rutherford passed away Saturday night. He was a dedicated man, who gave of himself to the young people he worked with, and he
was loved by many. He will be missed.

Lord, we don't always understand the things that happen around us...but we ask now for the comfort only You can give for VOS's daughter and for all of the young men and women her producer knew and loved - Be with them in dealing with the loss of someone who was obviously an important person in their lives, and let Your will prevail, through it all.
