What does the annointing feel like?

What is the annointing?

What does it feel like to you?

What is its purpose?

Is it tangible?

How do you know what you feel is really it?

Can it be bottled?

Is it the same as the presence of God?

hmmm....

This ought to be an interesting thread to watch!

My own personal experience is that the annointing comes with feeling and without.

I have felt the annointing as a coolness that causes me to tremble. Of all the times it has occured in this way, it was in open door evangelistic moments.

What I mean by that is not just sharing the gospel, but sharing the word when it was at the right moment...the hearers heart being wide open!

An interesting note is that in these situations I didn't always see salvation occur at that moment...but I know the Lord was powerfully drawing them close!

I have felt the annointing in worship and prayer. Almost always like a shudder that goes up my back...

There was an instance that my wife and I were going through the ringer...a very difficult time, like everything at once came against us. One evening we were laying on our bed in the midst of all of it and we just starting laughing.

We laughed so long and so hard we were practically crying! Our daughter by this time is wondering what in the world is going on with mom and dad!

But when it was over, we were refreshed, we had hope...the annointing had broken the yoke!

The other side of the coin...I have seen the Lord do things through me or near me and have felt N O T H I N G !

Absolutely nuttin'

So feeling or not feeling the annointing isn't the indicator of the the Lord presence.

When I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, I feel as though I'm beside myself, if I'm speaking, because I'm as intent on listening to the Holy Spirit as the person I speak to.
I say this in all humility, because I know that Peter was able to speak that which was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit and then be rebuked by Jesus, nearly in the next breathe, for being a mouthpiece for satan.(Mark 18:29-33)

I'll repost my post here:

in my church, a very light cool breeze. at first i thot it was the air-conditioning but now i realise its not cos its just different. very light -- like a cool mist slowly inching in.

another type is similar to the feeling when your hair stands like when someone sings off key -- except in this case your hairs on your arms/head dont stand. i've checked. also for me it covers the area from my head to the lower back.

once the chimes (one of the band instruments) in the background played by itself as if to punctuate a sentence my pastor was preaching.

I feel it like a warm mantle.
I feel a foot taller. Very still. Very focused.
Sometimes when healing is manifested, there is a warmth in the hands.
When prophecy, there is an urgency to speak... with seemingly random thoughts.
Sometimes the room looks brighter.
It is almost always accompanied by tongues.
It always has an air of praise.
It seems I can breath very deep.
I know some people get "Ecstatic". I do not. I find in most cases, getting emotional just gets in the way.
There is a very powerful sense of certainty about what I am saying. Boldness and confidence.
When a demon is being dealt with, this certainty is coupled with the words "come out in the name of Jesus"! Out he goes!
Sometimes, just thinking about it brings it back.( Like now!)
In my case, most of the time it rubs off onto the people I am speaking to or am with. Some have said they can see it, and even feel it eminating from me. You may feel it while reading this post!

Because you don't have to feel anything for God to be present.
You are absolutely 110% correct Louis old buddie. Faith is the evidence of things not seen, felt, heard, or perceived. And even when we do feel something, it is still faith that will put us over. Proverbs says that we are not to lean on the things that we do understand... never mind the things we do not.
I have known people who after their first touch of the Spirit absolutely fell flat on their spiritual faces because they started to walk by that experience rather than by the faith that brought it. If we never feel anything again, the word is still true to us and He is still here. He will never leave us or forsake us regardless of what we feel or do not feel. I am saved regardless of how strong or weak I feel. I am healed regardless of how sick and tired I feel. My prayers are answered regardless of how many doubts and fears assail me. He is faithful and just: I don't care what the devil says. He is true and every man is a liar. And even if I fall and sin and can no longer lift my head to call on His name... He is still faithful and my shied and the lifter up of my head.

So I don't worry about it any more. I just like to ride high on the power of His faithfullness!

And having said all that....
I cannot help but feel His power and presence in my heart and life.

It all starts with that little "abba".
