Yes, it's either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on who died and how they are related to you.
If someone you loves dies, and was saved during life, they are now in heaven, enjoying a pain-free and happy existence. This is a good thing. But their family is here on earth, mourning that they have to live the rest of their lives without that person. This is a bad thing. But a good thing can come out of it: Those who mourn are blessed by God. They will grow in their reliance on God because of this loss.
If someone you love dies and was unsaved during life, they are not in heaven. This is a bad thing. But a good thing can come of it. The mourners at the funeral might hear and respond to the gospel message given by the pastor, and be saved. This is a good thing.

Death is a horrible thing that wouldn't be here if no one ever sinned; Adam and Eve (w/ Satan's help) brought death into this world when they first sinned. After God came down and was the sacrificial lamb and died for us, death was/is still bad but not quite as bad. It's bad when an unsaved person dies and is eternally seperated from God, but it is good when a Christian dies because they get to be with God in heaven, away from all the pain and tears of this fleshy existence.

Reps: 1,937 (power: 12) | | | i know im ready to die, hey that sounds weird but i am because whats better then knowing you can worship god for eternity, i know where im going, to heaven amen to that but it is unfortunate that some cant experience what i do when i worship the good lord, and sad that some have never felt his presence, and sad that some are not gonna end up in heaven but i know i am and i will be thankful for that and not worry about whats gonna happen after i die.
