Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a serious mental illness that may become a long-term illness if not stopped. I believe i have OCD, but i am not too sure. If i am sure enough that this is OCD, i will take immediate action on it.

-Everytime i touch my feet, my hands feel a little "dirty" even when i don't see any dust or dirt. So i wash my hands so that if i look at someone i respect and show my "dirty" hands, i will feel guilty and shameful.

-Before i spit out my saliva from brushing teeth, i begin to think of someone i respect, therefore i stop the spit. If i DO spit, i take the spit back to my hands.

-If i hear burps or other human "excess" noises, i shake (not automatic) and i stop as if i am "shaking off" the "burp and other unneccessary" sounds.

-I also hear my own voice saying to me.. "If you don't look at the time now you won't do good in grades" or other stuff.. so i look at the time.

-I also touch any car or some object to "prove" that i'm not scared, this happens when i am tempted and hear my own voice saying this. I also do this when i hear myself saying" do this for some you respect".

This disorder is serious. I'm NOT sure if this is OCD that i have. Do i have it? Any doctors or psychiatrists want to help me here? Links would be greatful.

note: I've heard alot of "pray to God" comments which i am doing, but right now i've been having faith struggles so please don't post anything of that sort (since i am working on it ).

I'm not sure you are going to find any professionals here willing to offer any diagnosis...it's just not ethical or safe to do. But from what I've heard I would definitely recomend making an appointment with either a family doctor that you trust or a psychiatrist.

Continuing your relationship with God would definitely be a good idea, but understand that He might not heal you from OCD, if this is what you have. It might be His will, rather, for you to learn how to deal with this disorder. As you trust Him and learn how to overcome this in His strength then you will be able to help others who suffer from the very same thing. If God were to just take it away, then you wouldn't be able to empathize with any one else.

I would still suggest that you talk to a professional, though.

Yeah, it sounds like it, it could be schizophrenia too? I say that, because i have OCD, BP, and schizophrenia. You do show alot of signs of OCD and sense i have both, schizophrenia and OCD i can't say its its all OCD or signs of something else as well. (not a doctor). But i can say this, you do need to get test, because there are problems that could be treated and or corrected if caught soon.
Just know its a illness and not a curse or something, lol
Well be praying for you, God Bless,
John

It sounds a lot like OCD, but only a doctor can really tell. I have been diagnosed with OCD and I have those thoughts that tell me if you don't do this, something bad is going to happen. You should go to the doctor and find out. Don't put it off. Things will just get worse and you'll wish you had gone sooner.

I agree that God doesn't always heal you. He might want to use you and your disorder to help other people somehow. I mean, if I didn't have OCD, I wouldn't be able to sit here and help you out. So, don't get upset if God doesn't heal you completely. There are a lot of ways to get better though. Medication and counseling have helped me a lot.

It's pretty much simple when you want to stop OCD. It's just that some people have it harder because it took them longer to realize that they had OCD. I reduced my OCD by half already. It's been less than a week (i think) and i've already improved so much. I know the symptons of OCD, so therefore i use that information and guide myself and improve without the help of doctors.

OCD symptons are another way of saying "bad habits through mentality". I realized that these negative thinkings won't lead you to any good, and i don't need to touch a certain number of cars to make myself feel that i am good. I know the cause of OCD, i also know that i would look weird if i did it, so therefore i learned my mistake and i am planning on fighting OCD and drop another 50% by next Sunday.

effection, thats not true, if i'm right, i understand that if you don't get help (maybe meds there refering too) that it can and or does get worse. I highly recommend going to the doctor, if anything to find out in case it gets worse and or permanate.

God Bless, John

I've taken OCD tests and learned about the symptons of these OCDs... If you've got enough self-control and confidence, you can stop it. These OCDs will only make you worse if you continue, not if you don't stop it... That's what i learned and that's why i am doing better. I thought that i don't continue these negative thinkings and hallucinations, i will have a bad life, but that's not true and it's basically something to do with your brain. If i'm getting better at it, why would i need a doc for?

Effection, this is great that you seem to be able to take care of the OCD the way that you are...but I know that it is not typically that easy to overcome. I would still suggest that you see a doctor, I'm not really all that big on doctors, but there is greater danger in self-diagnosing and treating. There are many disorders and diseases that share symptoms and only a professional will be able to tell you for certain what is going on and explain the different alternatives available as well as what works best.

Well i guess i should go see a doc. But, i've already find out all the disorders i am diagnosed by reading the symptons. It's not easy to treat, because i still am struggling a slight bit, but from the way how i am acting and the way i do things, i am very sure it's an OCD, and maybe some little phobias that i don't really need to worry about. I've already told my friends about my disorder, read a book, been to several sites that tells me the symptons, and even though the people tell me that me (and/or other OCD-diagnosed people) should go see a doc or a shrink, i don't think it's that hard for me to actually self-control it. It's not a severe OCD, but it's controllable. So i don't find it very hard to stop. I'm always confident about it so i'm sure i can reduce OCD, like how i actually reduced alot of it. (I noticed i barely shake, i don't try too hard when i do little things, and i'm beginning to avoid thinking too much, which works with comfort and no harm/difficulty).. but if i don't stop it by next week i will go seek a shrink or a doc.

Thanks everyone!
