I'm surprised no one has mentioned the best Canadian thing ever: HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA. There's something about this that is so Canadian, maybe partly because its so candid and unassuming. When I watch the big US sports networks it always seems so rehearsed and stiff. Hockey Night in Canada is truly Canadian. You've got the awesome dynamic between Ron and Don Cherry. You've got the quirky announcers giving the play-by-play. Not only that, but (aside from Don Cherry) the real hockey guys KNOW hockey; they're not putting on a show. Kelly Hrudey and Mike Duffy legitimately get upset and emotional about it, its fantastic. So candid. So real.
