a moment

My first entry finds me at home with my wife on a Sunday afternoon. I've been focused on Bible versions the last couple of days because of a thread in the B/A forum.

I used to lean more toward the KJV only side (not wholeheartedly though) but now, with more information and actully looking into it, I have learned that the KJV version was meant to be a version that was readable to the people who talked and wrote with such a prose so that the common people could understand it. Some versions today were written with that same purpose and actually have some older manuscript findings to go by. So, now I am gonna lay off the whole arguing about what the best Bible is. I think I'm gonna swtich from using a NKJV to a NASB.

That's ebough for my first entry huh?

Wow, Its been like a week or so since my first entry. I am at work (got called in at night after working all day) dialyzing a patient. I'm tired right now.

I have been reading Genesis for the first time all the way through and some things seem so weird. Like that people took family members for their wives and that men have more than one wife. I guess it had to be that way then to populate the earth.

Its also funny how one verse can equal 50 or 100 years. just skip that much time with a few words. I hope that God will show me insight as I continue to truly study His word.

Christ Sheep without a shepard

Matthew 9:35-38 "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few."

As Jesus taught people, he always noticed that there were so many that walked around lost, without purpose. They were just looking to make it through another day. Most of us have our retirements, our two year commitments and contracts. We have plans we're saving for and goals that we are taking steps toward.

Some people are just trying to live another day. What a different perspective. I have no physical need. God has been great to me, but hasn't given me any physical need that would make me focus on Him constantly. We walk around with plans for the future and dates on our calendar. Sometimes I can't see the people who need Jesus because they are hidden behind those who easily reject Him and who are hardened to the message. My prayer is that I would find someone who truly has ears to hear. That's who Jesus spoke to. I also pray that I wouldn't be overlooking someone right in my face. I want to be part of the harvest.

Bible True righteousness

Romans 2:13-16 "For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous."

I was talking to my pastor the other day about how people in this country (especially the south) have been so exposed to the Gospel, that they are almost numb to it and its meaning. It seems as though we must try so hard to convince someone that they are lost so that we may work toward salvation. But in the end it will be those who truly walked and talked with Jesus and knew His spirit that will receive the crown of life. We all know that we aren't saved by works, but how hard is it to prove to anyone that you have a relationship with someone when you don't spend any time with them. Its very hard. I pray that when I present God's word, as simple as it may be, that it wouldn't return void. I also pray that I would be man enough to live a life of obedience and throw all the weight aside that besets me. One step at a time. Thank you Lord for giving us an indwelling conviction of sin.
