Seems like a perfectly good Christian attitude to me...
You're not persecuting a repentant reformed sinner to exact your revenge on him; instead, he unrepentantly keeps re-offending, and you simply hope he is brought to justice for his crimes and taken out of society for the protection of innocent people. Right?
Giving it to God requires us to do what we can, and to count on Him to do what we can't. And He will!

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
Through Teen Challenge, God delivered me from self-injury and depression, and taught me how to forgive my father for the sexual abuse in my past. Jesus saved my life! There is hope! To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
Hi AGAIN everyone! I feel like this is my own personal blog about my recovery. I've just reread the posts in this thread ans wanted to tell everyone's who posted here--how great you are! The outpouring of support stands behind me like a pillar of strength.
I think we as survivors really have so much in common and am struck at how other crime survivors cope using the same tactics I have found. The world of kindred souls!
My daughter is now 10 1/2 and we still talk pretty openly about what happened to us. She does not reference the sexual parts about what happened. She still talks about "the ghost", testifying, being brave and knowing I would get the man to leave. Her passion (and who knows at 10) is to be foresnsic scientists-- another postitive outcome of this incident in our lives-- chalked up to the Lord working in mysterious ways.
Also, you might want to consider a self-defense course and/or weapons training. My wife and I did both, and we each sleep with a loaded handgun under our pillow. This is not as dangerous as people think, if you know what you're doing. Your daughter is at higher risk from riding in a car than by you having a gun, but people will tell you otherwise. Whatever you do, you have a moral obligation to protect your daughter and yourself. While the police have a duty to protect public safety as a whole, they are not obligated to protect any individual citizen.
And, of course, it takes time; it took me about 6 years to totally put it behind me.
Again, I hope this helps. May the peace of Christ be with you.
You sleep with a loaded handgun under your pillow??!!
I agree with everything you said in your post. I was just very surprised by that one line.
I think I would feel less safe with a handgun under my pillow, but then, I haven't been what you've been through.
I used to keep my gun in the nightstand drawer, but I found out one morning that if I awoke to find a criminal in my bedroom, I wouldn't have time to roll over, open the drawer, grasp the gun and aim it at the criminal. He would get me first.
Fortunately, I didn't have to find this out the hard way.
Most people live in a fantasy world where nothing really dangerous ever happens to them - people in this thread know better!
Hello Jenelis - bless you!

For whatever its worth, I think I now have 16 guns in my house-- most in my bedroom. Of course I mostly sleep on the couch because its closer to my baby and about 1/2 the time she sleeps with me on the couch. Not so great for my relationship-- but its reality!
Up again tonight, worried about safety because we are building a stone patio out back and the fence has a section down-- so "vulnerable" is sticking to me like glue.
My criminal might be living 2.5 miles from me now, at his brothers house overlooking the back area of my daughters school. What are the odds on this one? A million to one??
Just read through this thread.
You are an incredibly strong woman, Jenelis
My praers are with you and your daughter... God bless and protect you both.

I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
