Cervical Cancer

My mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer a few years ago. She took the treatments and all seemed to be well. Then she developed sores (like a rash) in her abdomen and groin area. This was the cancer returned. She is considered a rare case. Cervical cancer is 90% curable, except when it returns. They can not operate and has told her it is terminal.

My mom always avoided doctors and hospitals and never scheduled regular PAP tests. I recommend every woman get a PAP test.

If you've ever had mulitple sex partners or if your partner has had multiple sex partners, your risk of getting cervical cancer is greatly increased. This is due to a sexually tranmitted disease, HPV. I'd never heard of it before. Most people don't know about it because our bodies generally fight this disease and most people show no noticeable symptons.

Just wanted to let everyone know.

McDLT,

I remember hearing something about this HPV thank-you for warning others and reminding us how important check-ups are. I am sorry that your mothers cancer has returned and the doctors have not given her much hope it seems. You don't say how old she is but I do hope she gets another opinion. There are some very good cancer clinics all over the US now. I don't know about Canada but I would urge you to look into it. The doctors are not always right. God bless you and your mother and all your family. I will say a prayer for you all.

Thanks for your encouragement.

My mom is almost 70 and has had a few opinions and more regarding treatment. She is now part of a study group, studying women who have had cervical cancer return. She is on a fairly intense chemotherapy (3 different chemicals taking 5 hours to administer). She has the treatment once every 3 weeks. She was admitted into the hospital 2 weeks after her first treatment and yesterday she went for her second and they are keeping her in the hospital. I live 3 hours away and the my 2 sisters and brother can't (don't want) to take her.

Smoking and Second-hand Smoke are other risks for cervical cancer and any other cancers too.

Just thought I'd give you an update. My mom just had her fourth treatment out of six. She's lost all her dark black hair but has kept all the grey. She seems in good spirits. On the weekend we had a birthday party for her and around 20 people came. It was great.

I praise the Lord that your mother was able to celebrate her birthday with so many family and friends. I pray the treatments will be over soon because I know how difficult they can be. God bless you both.

re: my 2 sisters & brother can't (don't want) to take her. wow re: 'Don't want' - That, plus has she lost her husband, also previously? - and who knows what all else your mom, in her 70-yrs, has LOST?; maybe too much for her. - So, she was living all by herself then ? - 'Social-isolation' often is a killer for people such as your own dear mother.

Too many people, unconsciously, after they conclude too much is lost - will 'checkout' of this life via cancering.
~~
Fortunately, the GoodNews is: some people have availed themselves of Blessed-opportunities of being guided, by someone so skilled, in their own *continual-Self-healing*.

Yet, from what little you've said here, with her (stuck now as a mere Study-object), maybe she feels better off, leaving for Christ's heaven... perhaps for rejoining her husband there?? -
I mean, what *Fully...-pleasurable life* is she being enabled with now ? - What do you think, McDLT ?

And yes of course, I will pray for your dear mother, as well as your own happy peace-of-mind
