More Israeli apartheid

Equal rights under the law - unless you're Jewish and I'm Arab, that is.

I don't know why they just don't start calling the Arab areas "townships" like the South Africans did....seems like it would be more honest.....

Arab ban proposed in Jewish areas

Human rights groups in Israel are vowing to fight a government decision that would prevent Israeli Arabs from moving into Jewish communities built on state land within Israel.

The proposed law aims to preserve the character of certain Jewish communities inside Israel by making it harder for non-Jews to buy land there.

According to Israeli media, the bill empowers the quasi-governmental Jewish Agency, which leases about 93% of state land, to establish exclusively Jewish communities on land it administers.

The man behind the proposal, Haim Druckman, has described the cabinet's support for it as one of the government's finest hours, a decision that he said put colour back into the cheeks of Zionism.

I suppose we Americans are guilty of "apartheid" too. Afterall, we've separated ourselves from a whole bunch of murderers and other violent criminals by locking them away in prisons. How dare we commit such acts of segregation! We should free those criminals and let them all out of prision right now!

Except that we do so, because they have BROKEN THE LAW and have threatened people. Not because they are black, or hispanic.

This Israeli law would do the segregation TO THEIR OWN CITIZENS based only on their color and ethnic background.

And the segregation here is not because of conduct; the article is talking about NEIGHBORHOODS.

It's reassuring to know that, like always, you didn't read the article.

This isn't a question of how Jews are treated in other Arab countries. Just because Jews may not get a fair break in Iraq, that is not an excuse for Israel to discriminate against its citizens who are Arab.
