If one is called by God, he will open up the doors...after all, was not some of the disciples called "unlearned and ignorant'? But God used them greatly!

Serve God and ignore what man says.

Has anyone heard of Mark Chironna? Anyway, he was a pastor, but sadly fell into sin and got involded in visiting prositutes while he was pastoring the Church. It got to the point where he couldn't take it anymore (of living a double life of pastoring a Church and living in sin). He decided to take his own life. He went to a mountain somewhere took a gun with him and was going to shout himself. As he put the gun to his head, God spoke to him in an audible voice. (not sure what God said to him, I can't remember the full details.) Anyway, whatever it was that God said caused him to repent of what he had done. He went back to his Church and confessed to everyone what he had done and resigned as a pastor.

Praise God though because, when we ask for forgivness and truly repent of whatever it is that we have done, God begins to work a restoration process in our lives.

God restored Mark Chironna big time. He now pastors again and has a worldwide ministry and operates in the gifts of the spirit and the miraculous power of God. He's on T.B.N, God Channel and other Christian T.V stations. Glory to God! Thank you Jesus for your Mercy,Grace and unconditional love.

Be blessed, love Jonathan.

I am going to fall in the middle of some of the views discussed in this thread.

1Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer,[a] he desires a noble task. 2Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 5(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.

I believe that this passage does not forbid divorced pastors to serve because they can still be the husband of one wife. Nor do I believe that getting a divorce due to infidelity or abuse is wrong according to the Bible, so divorcing under acceptable Biblical Law and Marrying again is fine.

However, I do believe that this precludes Men involved in infidelity or biggamy from serving as pastors because they did not adhere to God's laws on marriage and therefore are not fit to lead. I am not saying that God is not able to use that person in ministry or that they cannot be forgiven, but leadership is another story.

Jesus says in Mark 9:11-12, even remarrying is considered adultery to God.
I would like to know how this passage explains that remarrying is considered adultery.

Not to turn this into a TBN basshing but...

To say that God restored Mark Chironna because he is a Pastor and appears on TBN is somewhat deceiving. Nobody knows the heart but God, and it is my personal belief that although a few good things might come from TBN ministries, most of the leaders are false prophets with false interpretaions of the Bible. So I would not make TBN the litmus test for restoration, and view everything Chironna says in light of the scripture.

I have numerous herretical statements from Chironna, if you would like to chat about it PM me so the thread stays on topic

Romans 7:3
3So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

Is this what hes talking about?

This verse has no contextual support with the topic of the thread.

The verse you presented is saying.

If a man and wife get divorced, the wife shouldn't remarry, or it would be considered adultry.

Divorced Pastors

I did not get to read what was written about those who are divorced in the ministry, however, I will share that you rarely hear of Pre-marital Relations Pastors, or Felon Pastors, or Bad Attitude Pastors...you assign the sin a pastor has committed. The point I am trying to make is that any forgiven in the past makes a man fully restored. We have to get past the traditional views that do not square with God's Word, which views make forgiven Christians second-class citizens. Many men, post confession, repentance and restoration may return to the ministries God has called them to. He does not take away their giftedness.

Amen! Christ died so we could be forgiven. It seems that we have a tendency to judge others when there is only one judge -- God. God has a wonderful way of taking what ever we have been through (good or bad) and makes it so that we can use it to His glory.

Thank you heavenly Father for loving us so much and for forgiving our sins through the death of Jesus. May all that we are and all that we do be for your glory.

Because of Him,

Terry

Full Restoration Needed In The Church!

It is my hope that many hurting Christians who have gone through the process of divorce will be restored to the ministries God has given to them (Romans 11:29) Tradition has turned these persons into second class citizens whom God has not only redeemed, but restored!

Thanks Terry!

That sounds like the Catholic Church's, former?, attitude toward priest pedophiles. Maybe we should give every excon who finds God in jail a place in ministry. They could run the nursery at your grand kids' church Dr. Terry. God knows the state of people's hearts. We know people by how they treat us and others. There are good reasons why people don't usually put people who have done bad things/failed at a big life area in positions of authority.

Perhaps. But we must also ask ourselves if we're living up to the command to us, as believers, to be imitators of God, who forgives and forgets our sins.
