Isaiah 8:12-13 (NIV) "Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread."

If it's Windows XP, lock the file as Read Only from the Administrator account and make sure that the kid doesn't know the password to the account.

modifying the hosts file will be more worthless than filtering software. you have to manually add each domain/ip and a large hosts file will slow down internet access.

a keystroke logger is the best idea because you can obviously tell when the kids are looking at porn.

I don't think he's so much trying to keep his kid from looking at porn as trying to keep his kid from accidentally finding it. So with that, filtering software will probably do its job. However, the moment your kid wants to look at it, if he puts in even a little work he'll easily be able to find some.

How is that exactly? You can get to a lot just by mouse clicking. Like someone said above, kids are smart.

For apple users, I highly recommend bumpercar. I have my 3 girls using it, and it is easy and awesome. They love it too.

The problem with all those filters? Google image cache. 'nuff said.
