Spanking: Hand or Paddle

As simple as stated. Should one use hand or paddle when spanking?
Give pros and cons. Back up your thinking with resources (Bible, books on spanking, websites, etc...).

I am curious, and would like some advice. thank you for your thoughts and ideas on this subject.

Definately some object, preferably a switch. Not a paddle or spoon. Your hand has to hit either bare skin or fairly hard for any effect. A paddle as well has to be on bare skin or fairly hard for an effect. A switch can be a light swat on the hand or leg, and the sting from that is quite enough. Try it some time, use a paddle or spoon on your arm, covered and see how much it takes, now take a switch and do the same. Almost no pressure, no actual force, therefore no chance of abuse or bruises.

I use my hand simply because I'm afraid if I can't feel it I won't know how hard I'm spanking them.

I don't think I will use items for spanking. I feel my hand will convey the message enough. I don't agree with spanking to hurt. The reason I will spank is if they blatenlty ignore me. Then it will be used as a "Hey I mean what I say!" type of thing.

Thank you for the post, but that is not what i am talking about. This is for people who do believe that spanking is necessary under some circumstances.

I alternate between hands and an object, less severe for lil thins that jes need attention gittin, objects when it's a structured disicpline or threat. If the paddle comes out it means buisness as well as the one wieldin it. I don't know that there's anythin specific in the Bible to say which should be used etc, the book of Proverbs talks bout a rod. I don't take that to mean a ten foot pole foot across like a club. Switches.... boy howdy that takes me back... they do smart, but used properly I think they are a fine instrument. Only thin I ever worry bout is 'losin control' er bein mad an a switch is real easy to git round here, so I prefer to either use a hand that hurts me back or go an get a paddle.

I use my hand only, probably because that's what my parents did with me...& that was pretty effective, let me tell you!

I am sorry I thought you were just getting peoples opinions on spanking. Hope I haven't offended anyone.

When I do spank, it is with my hand and on a clothed bottom. I do not spank with object or on a bare bottom. It is demoralizing to have a child strip naked to spank, and it is hard to judge the force of the spank if you use an object.
