Will Hitler Get Justice or Annihilation?

Annihilationism doesn't imply there is no torment before going into non-existence. It would be different degrees based on the sinners life. Quote from Justin Martyrs writing "A dialogue with Trypho, a Jew" ""'They(souls) are not, then, immortal?' "'No; since the world has appeared to us to be...

Could someone please explain 'Lordship salvation' verses 'free grace theory'?

I believe "Law" means the entirety of the Mosaic Law. Including the Moral Law and the 10 Commandments which everybody is under, not just the Jews. Other than that I agree.

Could someone please explain 'Lordship salvation' verses 'free grace theory'?

Yes we are commanded to do good works. Jesus parables seem to indicate that Christians will do varying amounts. The warning passages are worded a little too strongly to indicate a simple loss of rewards I believe. I do believe some places like in Corinthians where it mentions "saved as by fire"...

Could someone please explain 'Lordship salvation' verses 'free grace theory'?

Agree they are not automatic. Not guaranteed...that's where the disagreement is going to be with the "Free-Grace" people. The bible seems to indicate those who have absolutely no good works are not saved people. Whether they lost their salvation, or whether they were never saved to begin with is...

Ezekiel 18 contradict Sola Fide/ Gratia?

Absolutely. That is consistent with the concept of LAW in scripture. Do, and be blessed. Don't, and be cursed. The thrust of the concept of what WE do as opposed to what God does for us. But the Apostle Paul wrote that such a system would never get us salvation because we never actually do the...

Ezekiel 18 contradict Sola Fide/ Gratia?

I disagree. That makes obedience and not faith the determining factor for salvation. The law only shows us our sin. It does not save us.

Could someone please explain 'Lordship salvation' verses 'free grace theory'?

The Orthodox Protestant view is that Salvation will include good works, but not as condition of salvation but a consequence. The problem is that many in the LS camp actually cross the line and become heretical and change the Gospel into Law. They insist the Gospel in its proper sense is a...

Ezekiel 18 contradict Sola Fide/ Gratia?

Does Ezekiel 18 contradict Sola Fide/Gratia ? "But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his...

    Premillenialism

That's good to know. I have been extremely blessed by Lutheran teaching as of late. I've been listening to Martin Luther's commentary on Galatians and it has answered a lot of things I have never understood coming from a dispensational-baptist background.

    Premillenialism

No, I haven't read it. Frankly, there is much I might change my mind on if I became a Lutheran, but I really see no need to change it on this topic. Given that I hold to a "Kingdom Now, more fully fulfilled later" view, It really seems strictly an issue of eschatology. I get padded every time...

    Premillenialism

Is it possible to be a Confessional Lutheran and hold to a premillienial eschatology? I've been listening to a lot of Lutheran preaching right now, and wonder if being premillenial conflicts with any core doctrine. So far, though I know Lutherans are very big on the idea of God working in the...

    Help w Deuteronomy 30

I am looking for an explanation of how deuteronomy 30:11-20 is compatible with Grace and Sola Fide. It seems to imply that salvation is conditional upon obedience (at least for jews under covenant) Not only that, but the commandments are "easy" and not out of reach. I am missing something hear...

    Receiving Communion

I found a link explaining the LCMS position. http://www.stpaulskingsville.org/pdf/communion/questions.pdf "Instead, the pastor personally counsels with guests individually" I suppose my friend fit under that clause. She expressed her core belief in Sola Fide, the Trinity etc and gave her...

Galatians 3:10 New application to verse?

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.(Galatians 3:10) Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the...

    The Papacy As Anti-Christ

I'm not Lutheran, but from what I have been able to learn, that is the main consensus. There are minorities in Lutheranism that don't hold precisely to that explanation. I know some Lutherans that are premillenial and think Rome certainly has the spirit of AntiChrist in their system but is not...

    Receiving Communion

I have a friend who is largely Baptist in her beliefs but holds to the real presence in the Eucharist as she was taught growing up as a Catholic. She enjoys attending the Methodist and Baptist churches for fellowship but rather receive communion from a denomination which believes the same as she...

    Can election be lost?

In terms of salvation under the theology of Wesleyan-Arminianism, can an "Elect" person lose salvation? I've been studying Lutheranism on this point, and they interpret the bible to say the "Elect" are the people who become and saved and stay saved, but people in general can lose their...

    Divorce Remarriage

About a year ago I started studying the topic of Marriage, Divorce and Remarriage from the perspective of scripture. Most of my life, I have always believed that the bible taught that Remarriage after divorce was adultery unless the divorce was because of Adultery or Abandonment by an...
