    Smart Cycle

I want one!!! I love it. It get sooooooo hot here in the summers that it is hard to get the kids outside on some days. Then of course rainy days, it would be a lifesaver.

How often do you compliment your kidos??

This seems to be where I differ from you all. I believe you CAN over compensate. I think that if you tell your child how smart they are constantly or how pretty, or how proud you are. Then it loses it's specialness, it loses it's meaning. Now, I don't Withhold compliments and praise. But...

When family members brag about their little ones achievements

I would just say, "Congratulations, that's wonderful" and leave it at that. When they get the urge to say something mean, then just say, "well, every child is different" and leave it at that. I am assuming this is their first child. The reason I assume this is because the more children you...

    Teaching Manners

He sounds very detail oriented, very much like he has to know that "excuse me" is for burps, "bless you" for sneezes etc. So you may need to get creative and come up with a new term for now. How about just have him say, "sorry" or something simple that he can connect with that one action.

    Wwyd?

I would have had him turn it off. But I agree that you did the right thing in telling his parents.

BIG Santa Clause issues!!! NEED ADVICE!

I think I would take the focus off of santa and explain faith. I would probably do something like this... Faith is believing in something when there may be no real proof, nothing you can touch, to support that faith. Think about the old testament, when people were just starting to believe in...

    Santa Clause

Yes, my kids, well my older two believe in Santa, but I didn't tell them about him. When ds asked if Santa was real, I asked him if he believed that Santa was. He said yes. So I told him that if he truly believes in something, that he shouldn't let others tell him that what he believes in...

    Need Advice ASAP

OK, well, from the stepmom's point of view... Does she have a close relationship with your daughter? If so, trust her. She may have a reason for asking you to wait. I know that if that was happening to dh, I would want to speak with Gavin. I have a very close relationship with him, and I...

Somethings wrong with my little girl

She's 3, this is only the beginning!!! Have fun!!! Oh, and YES!! DD just a few months ago was in the kitchen at 3 a.m. The dogs were barking at her so I woke up to find her in there with a butcher's knife cutting up an onion. She said she wanted to help with dinner tomowow and this was her...

    Co-Sleeping

She contracted an infection during her delivery. It went undiagnosed for 4 months due to an ineffective system, not inept doctors. Basically, they kept sending her test results to her PCM. He was deployed in Iraq and was not recieving her lab results. So the system was quite faulty at the time.

    Co-Sleeping

Yes, simply because I didn't with my daughter, and it turns out she was sleeping through the night because she was to sick to cry out. So, yes, now, I would. And with my third I woke every 3 hours (not by alarm but by fear) to feed him. When you have one that sleeps beautifully and then find...

    Co-Sleeping

No debate please, just genuinly curious why people do this. What made you start doing it? We started because of breastfeeding. It was easier for me to lay in bed and feed him, than to get up every 2 hours. It worked so well for us with our first, that we just did it with all of them...

How does your spouse feel about your parenting methods??

Well, he agrees that I do 90% of the parenting since he is gone 90% of the time. So he agrees that I set the disipline and he goes along with it.

    "cry it out"

You know, I have to say, that with dh gone, I have CIO myself a few nights. And I keep thinking, "I just wish he could hold me while I cry". I mean, that is so big for every person, to know that the most important person in your life can comfort you when you are upset. I can't imagine ever...

    Sleep medicine for babies?

You know, when ds was teething 4 teeth at once and we were at my in-laws, they gave dh and me night out. When I got back, to my suprise he was sleeping peacefully, I asked what they did. They took some whiskey and rubbed it into his gums. Normally, I would have freaked, but they raised 5...

    "cry it out"

That is why I said many. I realize that there are many, usually formula fed, who have no need to wake up to eat. But many do.

    Sleep medicine for babies?

Well, no there is no magic pill to give her, unfortunately. If there was, I garauntee I would know about it.;) Try a bottle of warm chamomile tea. That usually relaxes my kids when they are sick. Also, have you tried rocking her to sleep for a nap? She REALLY needs a nap, that may be...

Anyone have a child who is small for his/her age?

I have 2. My oldest is in the 10th percentile which isn't too small. My middle child is in the 30th so she is right there with her peers. It is funny because she and my oldest look almost the same age in that way. My 3rd is below the 5th percentile. I don't worry as long as height and...
