    Sheltering the kids

I think there is a difference between age appropriate sheltering and babied. Not expecting reasonable responsibility from them is different to me than sheltering them from things that are beyond them developementaly to handle.

    cradle cap

You definately need to leave the oil on for a while, really put it on so the scalp and hair are saturated for about 10 minutes before bath. During dinner is a good idea. Then gently remove the scaly part gently rubbing it off with a baby comb. Gross, but it needs to come off to go away. The...

    Kids in my bed(not)

Good ideas so far. We actually have to get a room air filter(HEPA) for the kids room. Do they make any noise or are they to quiet for white noise?

    Kids in my bed(not)

Nope, not new. Sometimes she actually sneaks in and falls asleep without waking us up. She never says it is because of being scared or anything. Sometimes she complains that her brother breaths too loud(LOL). They share a room, but not very well the last little while, complaining about each...

    Kids in my bed(not)

First a few facts.... We live in a basement suite, noise is a factor. Eleanor has been known to scream unceasingly for over an hour. The landlord has come down in the middle of the night to see if she should call 911, as Eleanor will scream the name of the parent that is not disciplining...

    young child getting glasses

Thomas has had glasses since 18 months(turned 4 this week). He is more dilagent about getting them on in the a.m. than me cause they help so much! He has yet to be teased. I think if they are something she starts school wearing then the kids will not even notice.

How to handle this kind of child

2 hours is a long time for video games per day for anybody! How does his Mom feel about this? I strongly recommend How To GetRid of Whining, Complaining, and Arguing In You & Your Kids. It has really great practical advice for teaching your children to behave through honour.

Am I too strict about meals/food?

Sounds like a good schedule to me. We also usually do another snack at bedtime if dinner was early. I agree with the posters that said that the refused meal BECOMES the snack. If they finish the meal then they can take part in snacktime.

    is this normal?

The only thing I have ever heard of impeding speach is in "tongue-tied babies". http://parenting.ivillage.com/newborn/nbreastfeed/0,,91wd,00.html The frenulum under the tongue is too tight and the tongue can't come up properly to form certain sounds. I don't think that the upper lip moves...

First step towards full time ministry?

I have been discussing with my husband entering into ministry together. We don't know where to start though. Neither of us had any educational background in biblical teaching etc. but we are still sure that this is where we should go. A job has just opened up at our church that would allow him...

    Confused and Saddened

Some recent threads have me very perplexed... the Yoga stuff(WD) and the movie thread I started(re:Cars). Now don't get me wrong, I stumble often. Everytime I parent in anger, grumble about doing the dishes, or watch a talkshow full of drivel. But to intentionally stumble or set our children...

How much did you buy pre-baby?

What a great idea! my 3 month old was in 12-18 month sleepers and onesies because he was long not heavy. These would have been great.
